East End real estate is more than an investment. For many owners, their property represents not only a major financial asset, but a place where they can rest, relax, and restore their health and sense of well-being. So when property owners' autonomy and rights are threatened or attacked, the stakes are high indeed.
The stakes are high, too, when municipalities or businesses find themselves in dispute with other entities seeking to limit or interfere with their rights. My team and I have established a strong record of winning some of the toughest and hardest-fought cases in the Hamptons and surrounding towns, both in and out of court.

Services
For more than 15 years, we have used our knowledge of the intricate and arcane laws of real property, as well as the highly specific zoning and environmental regulations that apply in the Hamptons, to help owners of high-value properties resolve their most vexing property issues. We do this work because we know that Hamptons real estate is more than an investment.
Whether you are selling or purchasing, and no matter how great a transactional lawyer you have, an awful lot of things can go wrong in property deals in the Hamptons and on the East End. Why? A seller could change their mind and try to get a higher offer, despite a binding contract. Or a family member could come in and try to block the sale.
When one party to a construction contract fails to abide by its provisions, the resulting problems can be devastating. To win this type of dispute in court, you need a diligent and detail-oriented litigator to address the issues involved, which are often highly technical. Very often, you also need expert witnesses on your side.
In 2015, I succeeded in obtaining all of the necessary permits for a client to build a new home on Big Fresh Pond, north of the Village of Southampton. The permitting process was difficult, for many reasons. First, there was substantial opposition by neighbors, who argued that a restrictive covenant going back to the 1930s prohibited the development.
I provide thoroughly researched opinion memoranda to property owners regarding a wide range of real-property-law issues. If a property owner is unsure of their legal rights and options, I can answer their questions and facilitate their taking the wisest course of action. I bring to my opinion work the same rigorous research and analysis that characterizes my approach to litigation.
