At a time when many funeral homes are being bought and sold by large corporations, Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Homes prides itself on being family owned and operated. The funeral homes were established nearly a century ago in the small ethnic Chicago neighborhood of Bucktown by Joseph Wojciechowski Sr. Today, Joseph Sr.'s grandsons, Jody and Mark Wojciechowski run the family business.

They have brought Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Homes a long way from its early beginnings as a horse livery service to a well respected funeral home serving all cultures, faiths and religions. Both Jody and Mark realize they would not be able to carry on the traditions and standards originally set by their grandfather if it were not for the dedication of their entire staff.

When you first begin the process of designing a funeral, the decisions you'll face might seem overwhelming at first. We're here to help you tackle the choices one by one and make the journey one of love, healing, and life celebration.

The process can be broken down into two stages: decisions regarding the service and how you'd like to honor your loved one's life, and decisions regarding how you'd like to care for your loved one's physical remains.Whether it's formal or informal, traditional or offbeat, a funeral provides an opportunity for family and friends to gather and support one another in taking the first steps of their healing journey.
Sometimes the thought of planning a funeral seems too difficult for those who've suffered a loss. I can’t say enough good things about how
well Colonial handled our loved one’s visitation and service recently. The facility is beautiful and impeccably clean. The room was large and great for social distancing. The staff were present and helpful but also very respectful in keeping their distance. From the first meeting to set up the details of the visitation and cremation until the visitation itself, I found the whole staff very helpful and accommodating of our needs. We were able to set up memorabilia, a slideshow on a monitor, and many easels of pictures. They are responsive to email, and

Extreemly caring heartfelt help in our time of need. Karen, Mark (Mr. Silo and all staff who's names we don't know) we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The director, Mark drove our beloved Jacob to our family cemetary plots in Michigan and stayed with us throughout the service.

The services are good.. but im disappointed that they never even included the whole family in an apology card.. mom has 2 sons.. and when we opened the card it was meant only 1 sons family.. and we were the one who spoke to the manager.. i hope no one will ever experience that.. it was like a slap to my husbands face.. losing his mom and not even recognized as her son.. its like he lost everything including his identity as a son.. the manager kept referring to us as "relatives" when we clearly said our moms ashes..

The entire staff at Colonial was absolutely wonderful. They made us feel truly cared for & it is why we returned to them for a third time in planning a family member's wake & funeral. Brad guided us with empathy & patience throughout the planning & picking process, never pressuring us & allowing us the time we needed to make decisions. He provided honest advice & helpful suggestions in planning an economical but still beautiful visitation & funeral for my mother. He and his staff called to ask/answer follow-up questions & were there to support us every step of the way. The funeral home itself is

This place is so unprofessional and un caring. 2 hours in to the wake and they walk in demanding service balance payment or "We won't allow the wake to continue". This through the whole mourning process to turn from sorrow to angry emotion. If they needed to remind us of the timing of balance payment, they should have done it before the wake started at 3:00.
Our mother passed in Chicago, IL and needed to be transported to Mexico. We were told that they ad vast experiences with transporting out of the country and we believed them.
