Dr. Ball has been a small animal veterinarian for over 6 years. She has practiced general medicine and surgery and emergency medicine. Dr. Ball has a special interest in developing personal relationships with her clients and believes deeply in the importance of pain management and early interventions to prolong our pet's quality of life.
Dr. Ball also feels strongly about reducing fear and stress to our pets and this is clear in the way she handles each animal and is the foundation for the start of this housecall practice. Dr. Ball graduated from vet school at LSU in 2010 but still calls those hogs since she attended University of Arkansas where she received her bachelors in Animal Science.

Services
After Dr. Ball performs a thorough physical exam, she will ask some basic life style questions to better understand the vaccine needs of your pets. Please report any history of vaccine reactions as sometimes these pets require a hospital setting where they can be monitored. Includes examination, Bordetella and Distemper/Parvo vaccinations, and a 1 year Rabies vaccination with tag/certificate.
So I believe vaccine recommendations should be personalized based on the lifestyle and disease risk to each pet while balancing potential adverse reactions. For example, we would not want to vaccinate a 50 pound lab who never leaves his yard (the Al Bundy type) the same way we vaccinate a social shitzu who visits groomers, day care, dog parks, and has an active social life rivaling the Kardashians.
No one plans on an emergency. As a house call service we are not set up to provide emergency care as we are unable to run immediate diagnostics like radiographs and blood work or provide hospitalizations/surgeries. You are welcome to contact us and we will try to help refer you to the nearest hospital, however Dr. Ball does not answer the phone if she is in an appointment.
In-home euthanasia is very special to me. As a vet for six years and a life-long pet lover, I know the heartache involved in this difficult decision. In a traditional clinic setting, I often feel rushed and unable to support my owners through such an emotional time and unable to have the time to listen.

I absolutely adore Dr. Ball and the vet staff at SOMA Animal Clinic. They are accommodating and compassionate, always explaining what your pet needs and what your options are to treat them. I have been able to avoid costly treatment for our family's pets with Dr. Ball's suggestions. Since the beginning of Covid-19, the clinic has done a marvelous job or protecting their staff and (human) clients. They are a first-rate veterinary office and I can't recommend them highly enough.
Our first pet to visit when the clinic opened a couple of years ago was our new rescue kitten. He is the first cat I'd

I am very appreciative of the Covid-19 safety guidelines in place. Also, for the care they took to helping me make the decision to euthanize my 20 year old cat, who was very sick. It is never an easy call to make, and I felt supported and assured that it was the best thing for her. Happy to have found a locally owned and operated veterinarian office to bring my other animals to for general health and wellness visits.

I took my dog in to get a checkup on a lump in his neck, they told me it could just be fatty but it also could be that he has lymphoma because all him lymph nodes were slightly swollen. They did tests to see if it was erlichiosis or Lyme disease and there were markers for that so he was put on antibiotics. They also indicated he had a heart murmur. I was DEVASTATED. So they aspirated the lump and it came back fatty. Which they said could happen because his neck has a lot of fat on it. I spent $900 to have a HUGE question mark on if my 6 year old dog was going to live or die. So I decided to get

Very nice people at this establishment. The black young vet tech was very attentive & the Veterinarian was awesome. Very informational, patient and nice! She gave me information about my little King that I've never been told by ANY previous vets. They even gave my other kiddo I'm the back (which wasn't being seen that day) some water in a bowl as we waited outside for Kings finale. King received a nail trimming as well (he hates nail trimming) and it was a better manicure than mines. Lol. But check them out. You won't regret it. && King is recovering abundantly! Thank you guys!!
