This is my go-to Mexican restaurant! My family eats here almost once a month. Their pricing is great, staff is friendly and the restaurant is always clean. But the most exceptional part of El Amigo is their food. I get something different almost every time I go and it is always delicious. My favorite meals are their chimichangas, chori pollo & birria tacos. Their salsa, guacamole & cheese dip are so good too! I work across the street and sometimes I will just order that for lunch because the portion sizes are enormous. I highly recommend El Amigo!!!

I live in Texas so maybe I'm a harsh critic, however I was a bit disappointed by the taste of my burrito, being a quite bland. The fact it wasn't served very hot might have had an impact on that. Everything seemed pretty overpriced as well, especially my mediocre-at-best burrito priced at about $16 that came with only shredded lettuce, diced tomato and sour cream on the side. On a positive note, my horchata was excellent and the service was good.

The food is always excellent, whether you eat there or get it taken to you. For dining in, the wait staff is usually very friendly and attentive. We've never had a problem or issue. Pricey, but it's worth it. They don't slack on the food (or quality of).
Must try: chorizo fries with extra queso, and most definitely the Burrito Vallarta. It's worth every bit of the price.

It's been awhile since Covid but my wife Kathy and I just had dinner here at El Amigo. A fantastic authentic Mexican dinner, very affordable and first class service.
Rosa was pulling double duty at the bar and taking care of our dinner.
She was awesome! A great dining experience and see you again soon!

I got take out from here and the food was okay. I enjoyed the cheese dip and tortilla chips. I also got one Asada Street Taco and one Carnitas Street Taco, they were pretty bland and I personally thought they had way too much cilantro.
I will definitely try this place again though and get something different.

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time and had a pretty negative experience. We'd had high hopes for finding an authentic Mexican restaurant in Erie and we were sorely disappointed. Our server was not very friendly or attentive, didn't offer us any refills on drinks, and didn't ask how we were doing until we were done with our meal. She asked if I wanted salt on my margarita rim and I was given sugar instead. The food was mediocre at best, my quesadilla was cold and my wife's flautas were literally taquitos. The only thing that was actually delicious was the

Very good experience to say the absolute least. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The food is great, I especially liked the blue Hawaiian margarita. The decor seems authentic. The only reason I didn't give here a 5 star is because I'm not a huge fan of the French fries but I didn't come to a taco place for French fries. Definitely a top 5 places to eat in Erie.

Darn decent Mexican food, Once you get past the idiosyncrasies. Highly recommend the chorizo, shrimp and beef fajitas, and what I believe they call their Chile poblano, an egg battered poblano pepper. Avoid what they call their chili Rellenos...Which appear to be strips of peppers drenched and cheese...Skip the queso, too runny, and margaritas.... made from a bad mix. Hard to get decent Mex food around Erie and far eastern Ohio, so El Alamo stands out.

Second time ordering (carry out) and it was a little disappointing, flavor-wise, and not warm. Also, specifically asked that salsa and chips were included, and salsa was missing from the order... a minor yet important part of the Mexican culinary experience is having salsa for the food, not just the chips. Speaks to poor training, lack of oversight and inattentive staff.

Most places in America have a hard time capturing the Mexican way of food - the intensely seasoned meats, the fresh vivid salsas, and a million ways to use corn tortillas. El Amigo does it right, and it is authentic - no tex-mex here. My girlfriend and I were visiting from out of town and had a Mexican craving. We had outdoor seating (a real blessing in COVID times) and a friendly, passionate (in the best of ways) Mexican waiter whom clearly knew their menu.
Must try:
Guacamole dip, fantastic, very fresh (clearly made to order) with just the right balance of acidity and richness from the avocados

Came here on 11/20 and service and food was good given the ambiance. Not many options past 10 pm so came back on 11/21 at 9:37pm and were told, "Sorry we are closed." Even though your website says you are open until 10 pm... side note- there were other patrons in the restaurant so we requested a "to go" order. Still-nope.
Who is in charge here? Not your customers apparently.
Went back to outlet hotel (Marriott Courtyard/Shoreline Grille) and they happily took our order for dinner. Shannon said "Take your time." Oh by the way, they also close at 10 pm. Kudos

If I could give ratings in half-star increments, I would give this place 2.5 stars. On one hand, the food itself is a welcome addition to Erie's limited options for Mexican cuisine. It is better than what I've eaten here otherwise. The food is definitely made with a finer touch, with careful attention to seasoning. I particularly like the spinach and mushroom enchiladas. My SO likes the carnitas.
The problem is that the service leaves much to be desired. We really have tried to give this place multiple tries but they invariably fail us with slow, unenthusiastic service. I&apos

We were so hungry and before we even were settled into our seating we had chips and salsa at the table. The food was so good we couldn't stop bragging about the good food. We had Seafood Nachos and Camarones and Rice. The prices are mid range and truly worth it for quantity and quality. Would highly recommend. Really like sitting in their booths.

No alcohol license yet; it's BYOB.
Very nice server.
Salsa okay; not heavily laden with cilantro, so nice for the folks who don't care for cilantro.
Only one wheelchair accessible table in the back, as the seating areas are a step up. Table a bit grungy.
My dish, vegetarian (spinach quesadilla, rice & bean burrito), was good & tasty.
Chips and salsa served, with no small dish; we had to ask for them.
Overall, not bad for a local restaurant; I'd come again.
