Dr. Poteat is an NC native who graduated in 1996 from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Chemistry and in 2001 from the UNC School of Dentistry. He began practicing in Asheville in 2001 and works with many specialists in the area to make sure all of his patient's needs can be addressed. Dr. Poteat and his wife Caroline enjoy Asheville's dining and outdoor activities.

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that patients visit their general dentist at least once every six months to ensure proper oral health and functionality. Regular oral health check-ups and maintenance help to prevent the development of serious dental problems that may require more extensive and costly treatments.
Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth. Bridges are sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, because they are semi-permanent and are bonded to existing teeth or implants.
Food particles are naturally attracted to a tooth's enamel by a certain protein. Products like coffee and tea, berries and soy sauce are notorious for staining teeth. Over time, teeth actually become more absorbent and vulnerable to staining from food and other substances. One type of stain-caused by traumatic injuries, medications and fluorosis-actually begins inside the tooth; brushing and flossing don't help.

Said it 5-years ago and I'll say it again....Dr. Poteat is absolutely the best there is. He finally got me in for a cleaning and it had been a long long time since I had been for a routine dentist visit. He outlined a plan of action and we've ticked away at it over the past 6 months. I refer anyone that I know looking for a dentist to see him. He and his staff are simply the best.

Dr. Poteat adjusted his schedule to help me with an emergency procedure. He then worked with me to create a comprehensive schedule to improve my dental health. I am grateful that I am able to eat without pain, and can sleep soundly again. He is skillful, patient, and does great work.

MONEY HUNGRY - My husband cracked a tooth and the bill was enormous to take care of it – well over a thousand dollars. We pushed our budget and paid a third of the bill up front. After that, we set up an automatic bill payment for another $100 a month to pay off the rest. My husband followed up by making an appointment for a routine cleaning, and had to wait a month to get in for that. On the way to the appointment, he called to find out was the total cost of the cleaning would be so we could make sure we had transferred enough to completely pay for that in full at the time of service. That’s
