Agreements, including prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, and agreements for parties who live together but are not married. Our law firm recognizes that, for divorcing clients especially, pain and stress are often only made worse by the legal process. But we also know with thoughtful guidance, deliberate advocacy and respectful problem solving, the legal process can also support positive change and healing.

Whatever the situation or legal need, we strive to achieve the most timely, practical and cost-effective solutions possible in each circumstance. Although we know litigation may be necessary in many family law matters, we know it is not always the best option. We explore with clients whether collaborative divorce or other negotiating options would better meet their needs rather than a litigated court case.
Services
A divorce, referred to legally as dissolution of marriage, is the complete separation and division of a marriage. The process requires the authorization of a judge. Do it yourself divorce arrangements are not advised. Here are some negotiating tips for your divorce.

Florida adopted the "no-fault" policy in 1975; this is where a couple can get dissolution of marriage simply based on the fact that they do not want to be married to each other anymore. The commonly used reason in these cases is incompatibility and irreconcilable differences. More amicable dissolutions can be done by collaborative divorce.
When you first visit our law office for a divorce, we'll ask if your spouse has a lawyer. If your spouse does not have a lawyer yet, or if he or she has a lawyer trained in collaboration, you may wish to explore the option of a collaborative divorce. Collaborative divorce has many benefits. The cost for collaborative divorce can be much less than a litigated divorce and can yield better outcomes.
When a divorcing couple has children, it is important to remember that all decisions concerning the children should be made putting the children's best interests first. Just because the husband and wife no longer want to live together doesn't mean the children should suffer the loss of either parent.
Each year millions of parents across the country seek judicial intervention in child support matters. Courts generally adhere to an objective process when determining the proper child support amount.

Whether you are a single parent seeking child support or a non-custodial parent with questions about your current support order, our family law attorneys can help to ensure that your children receive the necessary financial support congruent with your income as well as ex-partner's earnings.Child support is determined by formula using each party's income, number of children, time sharing, children's health insurance and children's daycare.

After my divorce was filed, Ms. Haswell was recommended. My first consultation was very informative. Ms. Haswell let me know in my first visit what I may be facing in my divorce. She was very realistic and reassuring. Her legal assistant keeps in the loop regarding my case frequently. I feel very confident in her and her legal assistant's ability to offer sound legal advice and to be trustworthy. Thank you, Ms. Haswell and Ms. Cannon, you've been a great help and have a heart of service.

Very Ethical and knowledgeable and wise lady. One of those people which is hard to find these days!
I had her helping me for a prenup agreement and she did send me one and she honored a very good price. But then she made changes to it to make it custom.
Now, this other lawyer for my spouse tried to scare her and try to protect her and then asked 4x the money of the original agreement to modify it!!!
Honest lawyer: Leslie Smith Haswell
Shark lawyer: other one
My opinion: Leslie sleeps better at night and enjoys her life much better than the shark one.
God bless her.

DO NOT PUT YOUR TRUST IN THIS ATTORNEY. I hired Ms. Haswell to help me get time sharing with my daughter, who I have not been allowed to see for over 2 years now. I live in a different state than she does so I was forced to get an attorney where she lives. After hiring her, the petition was filed in the wrong county, twice, even though I clearly explained to her exactly which county my daughter lived in and specified where her mother worked and could be served during the initial consultation. It took two months to even get the paperwork filed in the correct county and served to my child's mother

Recommended by a client of an opposing party for being ethical and fair. She says it like it is and does not give her clients false hope. I suspect that those writing negative reviews do not like to be told they are wrong from a legal point of view.

Horrible person and horrible "lawyer", the Free Consultation was her going over her rates and not hearing a single word about the case that I had for her to discuss with me. Furthermore, within the first 30 seconds of our consultation I wanted to get up and leave.
This is by far the rudest "professional" person I've ever dealt with. Save yourselves the time and trouble and go elsewhere. You'll be doing yourself a great favor.
