Dr. Van Wie was born and raised in Ridge Spring, SC. After graduating from Newberry College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1978, she moved to Charleston, SC, where she attended the Medical University of South Carolina Dental College. After graduating in 1981, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and started a solo family and cosmetic dental practice in Little River, SC.
Our office is focused on building a foundation of trust by treating our patients as special individuals. I can’t express enough the wonderful, professional and state of the art treatment I have received at Coastal Cosmetic Dental in Little River! My first visit was a permanent bridge that had decayed and I didn’t know what to expect! Before I knew it, I had a CT scan of my mouth and my treatment was explained in depth! I had no idea they would have the equipment in their office to perform everything in house! Dr. Patty, Dr. Dowdy and the entire staff deserve an applause for the care and treatment I was given! I came here for help with my TMJ issues. My first visit was fine, perfect actually. My second visit I left crying. I have been suffering with TMJD for years, finally now to the point that I had to do something about it. My splint came in but during my visit we discovered the wrong splint was sent. I felt there was no empathy from anyone regarding this issue considering I’ve been waiting for a month. Nothing was offered to help me in the meantime. I would have expected they would offer a temporary splint, pain management techniques or recommendations, or medication. When I asked for medication

Not only was the splint the wrong one, they did nothing to help me in the meantime. I was labeled a drug seeker incorrectly and they now won’t prescribe me ANY medication. Not even non controlled. I am dumbfounded as to how they did not offer me any solution aside from wait until the right splint comes in. And the fact that they won’t write me any prescriptions is poor patient care. Will be switching care once my splint is received since I already

Outstanding ! Over the holidays I had a mishap and fractured one of my crowns. I booked an appointment with Costal Cosmetic Dental. Dr. Patty and her assistant were simply amazing. They made me feel very comfortable and knew exactly what to do. After scanning my mouth with a state of the art computer she was able to produce a new tooth! The whole procedure only took two and a half hours. One visit , are you kidding me! A true skilled professional ! Dr. Patty has been my dentist for years and I highly recommend her! Thanks again.

The staff and dentists are amazing. They have helped me with everything from routine visits to emergency situations. Everyone is so kind and helps me work through my dental anxiety. Would recommend to anyone in the area. I have nothing but great things to say about this office. The sedation is highly recommended if you have been struggling with a fear of the dentist as well.

Lost a filling and cracked the tooth next to it: my two front teeth! Ugh! Since it was my front teeth, I began searching for a ‘cosmetic’ dentist. I’d driven past the practice many times. It’s convenient to my home, so I checked reviews. Reading the rave reviews, I decided to book an initial appointment, and I’m so glad I did!!
Dr. Dowdy did my exam and explained my options and their costs. I felt very confident with him and the practice. Had my appointment today and I’m thrilled with the outcome. I was very nervous not knowing what to expect: my front teeth have never looked as good

Very convenient since it's 5 minutes from my work. Beautiful office area and plenty of patient rooms so you don't feel "crowded." Very friendly, professional, staff and Dr. Dowdy was excellent in giving me several different options for my treatment plan & explaining my care plan in depth. The BEST part is I called Wednesday afternoon 2/12 and they saw me today 2/13! I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a new dentists office.

I was told by another dentist that one tooth would have to be pulled....AMAZINGLY DR. DOWDY not only saved it but restored my faith in comfortable.... yes painless.....dental care. The staff are so friendly, I felt like family. The other dentist' s treatment plan was very similar in price but only "fixed cavities" . COASTAL COSMETIC replaced cracked teeth and removed the fillings that had allowed decay beneath. YES, YES, YES.. GREAT DENTAL CARE.
