We named the restaurant after him. We've designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants.

As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries and their communities. By doing so, we are encouraging a shift in consumer demand away from overexploited fisheries and unhealthy fish farming practices.
Services
Eating seasonally is not the norm in our globalized culture of year-round, fully stocked supermarket produce shelves. At JJJ, our understanding and knowledge continue to evolve as we hone our skills and learn from our past mistakes. Changing the menu continuously to reflect what our Farmers brought to JJJ today freshly harvested.
Sustainability, in short, means the ability to be maintained. In the food world when someone talks about sustainability, they are usually talking about sustainable agriculture. We hope that as you browse our website and, more importantly, as you visit the restaurant you will see our commitment to sustainable agriculture is strong and sincere.

Through our day-to-day operations and our farm-to-table mission, John J. Nice local beer selection. Not a lot of menu offerings, but what they do have is memorable. Service was what you'd expect... very good!

The food was exceptional and our waitress was a delight! We loved the idea of supporting local farms. I got the pork and my husband got the duck and it was worth the price!

Never had a bad meal here. Great food, great drinks. Food can be pricey as I've mentioned in previous reviews, but it's locally sourced farm to table & the menu changes seasonally. There is usually a market price seafood and beef offering. This is the first time I've had their filet ($34) and it was outstanding. Cooked perfectly medium rare & it came with Brussels sprouts & oven baked potato wedges. They also do a cool little plate of fresh bread slides, house made butter, mini muffin & a spoon of chef featured soup. I had a salmon tartare appetizer. I tried a specialty

Extremely slow service.
We waited an hour for our entrees after we placed our order. Ridiculous. They did offer a $25 gift card because of the slowness. Fortunately they let us use it that night because we will never go back.

Rarely disappointed in this gem however their wines are slightly lacking what we'd like to have with their innovative dishes. Their cocktail game is strong but I wish the wines held the same swagger.

We had a party of five, wait staff was cordial, helpful in our wine selection, patient with our questions, an overall wonderful experience during my friends milestone birthday celebration.
The food was prepared well temperature wise as well as presentation; everything was delicious including the tasting spoon of root bisque (would like to see this on the menu)

Possibly the best restaurant I've went to this year! This place is attached to a hotel so there's ample parking although the exact boundaries on where to park weren't super clear. What I loved about this place was that the tables were separated from the bar by rooms so it was nice and quiet (but also not too quiet) and overall a great place to talk!

Now the food - we started off with seasonal salad and cheese plate, which were both amazing. The salad especially was so fresh and delicious! For the entree, I got the Fisherman's stew, which was basically risotto inside a soup

Five of us had:
1. Seasonal Salad - fresh and light, great starter to share
2. Grass-Fed Dry Aged Beef Tartare - delicious and highly recommend! Perfectly seasoned.
3. Local Grass Fed Beef Liver - the texture was perfect so if you're into liver, I would highly recommend.
4. Vegetarian Dosa - we got this as an appetizer to share. I saw a few reviews recommend this so we got it but it was underwhelming.
5. Darhower Farm Grass-Fed Dry Aged Beef NY Steak - this was underwhelming and was a very mediocre and wa chewy ~9oz steak ($36)
6. Fisherman's Stew - had risotto and very good portion

Decent bistro in the heart of Pennsylvania. Food was mediocre but eclectic. Tried an array of dishes with the family.

Pros: Fusion of foods that were prepared delicately but a lot of the dishes were a bit underwhelming for the cost of the dish. The drinks menu was very moderately priced and the bartender seemed heavy handed.

Cons: Price and Portion. Flavors could have been a bit deeper but overall decent for the area.

My daughter and I had a wonderful dinner there last night. We started with a Lemon Drop for her and a nice Pennsylvania Reisling for me, along with a local cheeseboard. All 4 cheeses were quite good. I had Beef Stroganoff, made with extraordinary tender beef in a aromatic reduction sauce with mushrooms and onions, topped with fresh mashed potatoes and sour cream. It was amazing, intensely flavorful. My daughter had the pan roasted boneless chicken breast, with a delightful, peppery sauce over diced potatoes. It was so good!
We were too full for dessert at the end of the meal, but our waiter

My husband and I ate here a few weeks ago while staying at the Arts Hotel. First, I was so happy with how accommodating John J Jeffries was--even though I delayed too much in making reservations, they were extremely accommodating. We ate outside, and I was pleased to discover what a beautiful courtyard the restaurant has. To start, we ordered a cured salmon special and a salad, and to eat we both ordered the vegetarian dosas. Everything was incredible, from start to finish. We'll definitely be back.

Dined here last week. Service was wonderful, and we were touched by the complimentary Prosecco for our anniversary toast. For our first course, we chose the beef tongue as well as the liver. The tongue portion was fairly small but the liver portion could have almost been an entree size. Both were delicious. My entree was the beef tartare which was fantastic. My husband chose the bison flank steak special which he found to be disappointing as it was quite tough. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and will return.

Hands down, John J Jeffries, is the best restaurant in Central Pennsylvania. It's been our favorite for over a decade now, even though it's an hour drive from our home. First of all, the food is absolutely phenomenal. We've never had a bite of anything we didn't like here. It's all knock your socks off delicious.
My absolute favorite thing on the menu is their steak tartare. It's actually found twice on the menu, both as a small appetizer portion and as a larger entree sized portion called, "The Truth". The truth about "The Truth" is that it's simply the best steak tartare around, certainly in

This place was amazing. They serve farm to table food and everything was beautiful and perfectly seasoned. Their shrimp and grits was my favorite dish I've had in a while,we had to order another one lol. The staff and kitchen cook everything from scratch and the service was so fast and really well timed out. Highly recommend for a night out or a celebratory dinner

Every thing I tasted was absolutely delicious, and being a Lancaster county native .. I knew the sweet corn in the vegetable medleys was from here. not a thing I had to eat was anything less then perfectly cooked, seasoned, and plated. The price is worth the food and service they deliver. I even had local pheasant, which as a kid hunting, we could only get that tough game bird to taste well in a broth, somehow the the chef mastered it like a perfectly roasted chicken falling off the bone.. Amazing dish! I need to figure out how to cook my pheasant like that!

Came from Baltimore for the weekend. Had booked this and one other "fine dining" establishment for our two evenings because I could specify outdoor dining (I'm vaccinated but have cancer and am in chemo so I'm only dining outdoors.) Got there and we were offered a table inside because a rehearsal dinner gathering had spilled out onto the patio. Do better with planning.

Amazing dining experience! Service and food were phenomenal. Husband and I had a rare date night here and it didn't disappoint!

I had the Lavender Sidecar drink, which was great. My husband had the shrimp bisque and I had the cream of watercress soup. Very delicious.

My husband had the fisherman's stew, which he loved. The mussels and shrimp were humongous.

I had the pheasant and was glad I chose it. Seasoned and cooked well.

We then shared the chocolate pâté, which was amazing!

If you're looking for an upscale and amazing dining experience in Lancaster, then this

I came across this restaurant by chance and I was drawn to it due to my clean eating. The server (Hunter) was wonderful and knowledgeable when I told him my restrictions. Food was excellent and one of the best (and cleanest) meals I have had in quite awhile at any restaurant. Will definitely be coming back again! Keep up with the grass fed meats and clean cooking!! Just a suggestion for dessert options to add...cashews make a great substitution for cheesecakes for those who are dairy free :)

Amazing good and ambiance for an anniversary dinner. The food and waitstaff were amazing. Loved the salmon with black rice. Husband had the beef and it was cooked to perfection. Cocktails are fun. Service was SO fast.

Def a fancier place with quality food so the prices reflect that.

Was also very busy on a Saturday night. I would recommend a reservation. We were staying in the Lancaster arts hotel that's attached so this was perfect.

This was our first time visiting Lancaster and I really wanted to eat local. We landed on JJJ and it did not disappoint! We were lucky to have a gorgeous night, since we are only eating outside due to COVID. There is a lovely back patio and we felt like there was enough spacing for everyone to enjoy their meals. And enjoy we did! I don't think the meal would have been nearly as great without our server April, who was kind, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our food. Everything was great, especially the eggplant and the lavender honey creme brûlée. The main portions

Great restaurant in Lancaster. Focused on farm to table within 30 miles. We had a mix of small hot and cold plates. Started with steak tartare and seasonal salad. The steak was properly seasoned and the toast had a great flavor. The salad was fresh and dressed just right. Followed the cold plates with shrimp and grits and Jim's bim bap. Shrimp and grits had lots of throw-ins (mushroom, spinach, tomato) that were fresh and added a nice flavor. Bim bap has heat but not too much - they will take it up or down at request. Added a trio of ice cream to share for dessert - singing dog vanilla

Always a must when I visit the area.

I discovered this place ages ago and it has been in my top ten since.

You can get a great cocktail here, as well as a great selection of wine.

Dishes are prepared using local and seasonal products.

Service is always great and distinguished.

The interior is spacious and welcoming; a lot of wood is featured.

Their deserts are also quite delicious.

Booking ahead is recommended or you can try to wing it at the bar.

Parking can be limited.

Personal favourite: liver & onions
