Most of the nurse were horrible and not caring. They were always in a rush. There is no need for them to come visit if I had to do all the work. My father came home with a wound in two areas from the hospital and the nurse ordered some supplies and never taught me how to use it. It took forever to get anything from them. I ask for normal saline to clean his wounds and was told it was not covered. How am I supposed to do a dressing without teaching or the use of normal saline to cleansed the wound. I constantly had to ask there Nurses Aides to wear their mask. I can see from the home

VNSNY is the worst long term care program. Everything becomes a process. If you request simple things like wipes, you need to go to the doctor for an appointment and get a prescription that must include 12 things and reasons for needing wipes. It becomes so complicated that you just end up buying whatever you need at the moment. VNS does not help you with obtaining prescriptions or offering solutions to other issues. I would never recommend this company for long term care. Choose a different company before you get stuck with them.

Since my last review VNSNY has called two more times trying to schedule both nursing and physical therapy visits with my deceased father. Unscrupulous behavior.

I wish I'd read these reviews before signing the agreement. I'm a new customer. The young man who came to do the initial intake interview was
excellent. Although the time of his call and arrival at the house was not what we'd been told.

And then - Nothing.

Called the company and was told who would call us and when.
Again - Nothing.

Called company again and was told they would contact the nurse, who would call us back. (You've guessed it. Nothing)

I have asked our provider to give us a different referral.

VNS needs to hire more staff.

I had 2 weeks of physical therapy at home following a hip replacement. The physical therapist was outstanding- he was knowledgeable and highly intelligent, very professional, encouraging and compassionate.I have had PT at several top places and no one was as excellent as Nick of VNS of NY- thank you!

This company is a complete joke! I called multiple times to complain to then be given the run around. 1. I had to repeat important information for my nurse multiple times ( she would write them down) and repeat back something completely different 2. When I asked her questions, her favorite line was "talk to your doctor", I told her multiple times who my current PCP was and she continued to call and follow up with an old doctor. All she did was come to my home to take my temperature and blood pressure and would leave. No questions, no assistance, nothing! I am in a wheelchair after having

When my mother needed managed long term care, I was told to choose from 9 providers. "Just pick one." They told me. "You can always pick another."

I chose visiting nurse service of New York, because I heard of their company and I figured they had a long history and thus they were better. I made a mistake.

Last year they only had ONE home care aide in all of Long Island. And that aide was allergic to pets. The lack of variety is unacceptable.

I later attempted to get more hours per week for my mother because my mother's neuropsychologist said she couldn't be left

When I was looking for hospice care for my dad I was very stressed out as there are many different options. VNS fulfilled my request for having a full cantonese services as my parent's prefer native language. They handled it the best the can, offered home aid and nurse to speak cantonese.

Their 24 hour hotline is a mostly good, most of the time they will connect me to a nurse right away but sometimes they say they will relay it over and give us a call back which they don't. When my dad's health was declining and needed more attention to the meds they will have it ordered and usually

A representative by the name of ASHLEY is downright rude, condescending, and clearly hates her job. She constantly interrupts when you ask for clarification and doesn’t seem to display any fondness for her choice of work. She also will HANG UP on you when you ask a question.

Very unpleasant experience with vnsny. The utter lack of professionalism, compassion, and caring is quite disturbing. My mother had a spinal stroke and when released from hospital we went with youd agency because of the name. Had I known the horrible service, the complaing of 'professionals' about coming to parts of Brooklyn because there's too much traffic and having the patient keep telling the occupational therapist to request more visits for weeks because the insurance company keeps calling patient asking for us to tell vnsny to submit more for care. OT stated she didn't

My dad has been on hospice care at home through VNS (which I only chose because of their veterans care) for nearly a month. He is very close to the end. From the beginning he was assigned a nurse who was out on medical leave. We have never met her. We will never meet her. We get a different day nurse each time. They don't know my dad. They don't care about my dad. They are not competent enough to relay my dads issues. We finally got assigned to a new nurse. She was supposed to visit for the first time today. She called and cancelled because she "was with a very sick patient"

excellent for The few Visits I got! they are denying me services even though my home insurance is providing authorization. Numerous phone calls and dead ends !

I got a speedy reply from the company saying they wanted more details in an email. I sent that and then heard nothing so obviously that was just a false attempt to look “concerned”-Please advise if you did respond with some corrective action!

AVOID. Find another hospice service. The nurses are hit or miss in terms of level of effort and empathy. The administrative staff are also hit or miss. Three days before my mother passed away, they did manage to get her into our preferred in patient hospice on a weekend (miracle) but then the harassment began daily that she would need to be discharged (she met all of the criteria to stay) and lied to try and get me to revoke hospice even though her insurance covered the service 100% AND the facility she was at also felt she needed to stay. Luckily she had no idea this was all going on behind the

We initiated home hospice for a family actively dying. So much so that the intake nurse didn’t realize how far along she was and implemented crisis care. We discussed that including 24/7 nursing care. Yes, for sure. AND nope. Each day a nurse shows up to see if you still need the crisis care at night. She’s dying, what’s the difference between day and night when someone is comatose. The oxygen ordered was supposed to arrive at 1p, didn’t get there until 7:30p and no one could tell me why. Oh the nurse meant to arrive T 6p was nearly an hour late with no explanation. They’ve messed us

Run, do not walk away from this home health aid service. Twice my 97 year old parent has fallen and lay on the floor for more than 10 hours after VNS has left her alone. Multiple requests with supporting doctor advisement's and arbitrations, yet all additional hours requests have been denied (3 formal). Pathetic!..

Beware!
The first encounter they seem caring, competent and accessible. Luckily, we didn't need to depend on their services for care. It started out well enough with the nurse showing up just 30 minutes later than scheduled. She seemed well informed and sincere. She was to refer a physical therapist to do an evaluation for home PT. That's where everything went wrong from the competency of the therapist to the compete and utter lack of responsiveness of the agency itself. Three days later and I am still waiting for a call back and a physical therapist to show up. If we relied

Well I tried to use the service, but it very frustrating.
It's been 3 days since my dad's doctor spoke to them and fax over a referral. I have called them everyday and they have no record and no fax. This has gone on for three days resending fax and calling.
They are unable to know what's going on or helping with getting the job done.

I guess I will give up.

The experience with the actual RNs, NPs and therapists which perform the services have all been average to excellent. Not a single bad experience there. Unfortunately, the company's scheduling policies seem to mandate that the client not be informed of when staff will be visiting until the morning of the visit.

I spoke with the service about my concerns and they indicated that they understood and would endeavor to provide advance notice so I could move other appointments around. What actually happened was that a note was put in my file indicating that I simply wanted to be informed of

I appreciate that you guys are helping people and a proactive role in making sure we are aware of the service.

But you called me yesterday after I told you that the elderly person approving the decision to have you come to their home would need a translator, and said you didn't have one available on weekends. I spoke to the for you, and very clearly said that they do not want the service. I spoke to various nurses, giving the patient's name, birthday, and my own information so there should be no confusion.

You call me today on a Saturday before 9am to confirm again whether you should
