I haven't been here in years, because I live in Florida. It's even better than I remember. We got an appetizer platter and everything was excellent.
My guest and I got the Peking Duck three course dinner for two (Order a day ahead) and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken.
First course: Duck skin with pancakes, very traditional dish. Excellent!
Second course: Duck soup. Great flavor.
Third course: Duck stir fry. I was so full I barely touched it but it was fantastic and a huge amount.
My wife really liked the sweet and sour chicken.
The service was also very good. Our waitress "Autumn"

I love this place and they love me. If you're not into sweet sauce, or whatever else you complain about DONT come. I think the food is great and I always leave happy. The workers are the coolest people, if you're cool.

I understand why their parking lot is full most nights. They have a very large restaurant and extensive menu. It's not a regular place for me to go because I like more sichuan style.

I've been at least 3 times now and the food is okay. They get very busy so you may have to wait for a table due to staffing issues.

Typical Chinese American style food with some authentic dishes. Service was good. Portions are good and enough to take home unless you do family style and share.

I'd rather pay a little more and get food from Nani or go more specialty like Ruyi Hand Pulled Noodle.

Second trip in the last month…both time were less than I expect from the restaurant I have been going to for 40 years. Had Moo Shu the first time and not bad but the egg roll was cold. Second time I ordered chicken chop suey…this time the egg roll was hot but my chop suey was cold, the chicken was tough and had few vegetables. Not sure what is going on….but the Imperial Garden is my go to best Chinese (when in Madison) anywhere since 1981. I did learn Karen…who has been there since 1981 retired. This could be part of the problem. Will I go there again…oh absolutely. I just hope the third

Decent food but really it's no better than your average Chinese takeout and costs a lot more. The restaurant is archaic and I had to wait 15 minutes behind other people to pick up my takeout order because people in front of me either had to pay or were ordering at the desk. This all could be solved with a website but of course they're still living in the imperial ages with in-person or phone ordering only.

This is an all time family favorite. We've lived and traveled many other places but have never found another Chinese restaurant that compares. When we come back to Madison we have to stop by. The service is always great and the food is fantastic. Our favorite dish is their shrimp scampi soup, it hasn't been on the menu in probably 10 years but they always make it for us upon request. Highly recommend!

Don't expect to get food remotely quickly. Ordered pick-up, told it would be ready by 5:40, actual time 6:25. And even with the extra 45 minutes they didn't get the order right.

I've only eaten there about 2 times in 35 years but have driven out of my way to pick up take out about 200times. Every other Chinese restaurant has to compare to imperial gardens. I am so glad the one on the east side disappeared because that was not doing this place justice. I guess my only knock on the place would be goofy parking lot and letting that east side location tarnish your name for years

Imperial Garden is near to me, and I am all about convenience. I was looking forward to trying it since it is so nearby, but was nervous because of the reviews I read on Yelp. I am happy to say that I finally gave it a try and had a great experience.

I ordered the fragrant chicken lunch combo which came with rice, entree (fragrant chicken), and your choice of egg roll or soup. I had the egg roll. The food did not disappoint at all. The price was very reasonable for lunch ($11 after tax) and the food was plenteous and delicious. The fragrant chicken is a bit akin to a sweet, sour, spicy sauce with

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of take away traffic, I was dine in and there was people dining and lots of room. Food I order was great, only had one dish as I was by myself. Filled up eating with plenty remaing to take home for later. Lots of options on menu, plenty to find a favorite dish.

Great service, outstanding food, and an extensive menu make the Imperial Garden a reliable choice for dining or takeout. The spacious restaurant is calmly relaxing, and once in the doors you are in another world. Appetizers are plentiful, and the soups offer more than the proverbial ones. The spinach chicken soup warrants attention. Moo Shu is my favorite, and it is offered with various proteins. The spice dishes are nicely done, with Governor's Shrimp particularly appealing. Beverages include some well-chosen wines. But the device sets Imperial Garden apart to make it highly recommended.

This place was fantastic today for lunch. They were incredibly busy and short staffed but it didn't stop us from getting great service and delicious food. Definitely recommend the noodles with shrimp in curry. Our server was polite, informed and quick to get us our check when we had to get to a meeting. If you can practice a little patience, this place is definitely worth it.

I didn't get to eat here. I tried on a Sunday at 1 pm. When I entered there were people waiting. So I waited. Finally a hostess came around and I asked if there was a wait to be seated. She said yes and left again. The people on the couches had put their name in because she finally called a group of them to sit. But the people standing in front of me still had not. The hostess came back asked for their name and left again. They were so confused and figured that meant to go sit and wait. There was a line of people to check out and pay, and that also was the hostesses job. And they stood there waiting

This used to be a wonderful place for great food. We were a party of eight. Four dishes were so bland that I brought it home to fix it up. So sorry things have changed as prices are higher than most Asian food restaurants.

Used to eat there before the Covid pandemic.
Food was good, especially the egg rolls.
Since the pandemic they raised their prices so high
can't afford it anymore. (EGG ROLLS WERE SOGGY LAST ORDER).

❤❤❤❤Best Chinese food ever!! Beautiful dining rooms. They also have a banquet room big enough for a socially distanced group. Tables are spaced. Staff all wear masks and gloves. Excellent service!
The food is 10 stars!!! I had Scallops and cashews. The scallops were tender absolutely no grit. The sauce, amazing, no soy sauce necessary. Crispy vegetables. Juicy mushrooms pop with flavor. I began my meal with steamed pot stickers. Fully cooked, but still soft. PERFECT!!!
Very reasonably priced for an outstanding meal. Every visit is a special occasion. And, they have specially priced

One of the worse Chinese restaurant ever I've been. Not authentic, with terrible food: jumbo shrimp with ketchup was very bad. No way I will ever stop by. Everyone working there doesn't seems to be authentic and that explain a lot my issues. The tea, only served upon request at at a price rather than compliment was good.

We love this restaurant but am just reviewing how they are handling the Covid takeout business. We ordered by phone and the entire menu is available just as it was before. They did take our credit card information but did not ask about the tip which we thought was odd. Nor did they ask about our vehicle type as most others do. We pulled up to the curb behind two other cars and a woman came out and was wearing the proper PPE. She took our name and in a few minutes had our order. The one negative thing is that you must sign the credit card receipt and add the tip then. This means touching the

Family friendly chinese restaurant offering good food and service. Everything always tastes good here. The seafood soup is the star of the menu, its delicious and full of flavors. The serving portions are good and one entree can be easily shared by two people. There are a lot of meat, seafood, and veggie options to choose from. There is not much of a dessert menu, tried their ginger ice cream and wasn't a big fan of it.

I'd long desired entering the vast halls of Imperial Garden.
Once or twice a month I make my way to (through) Middleton, WI and when I drive past that amazing hilltop oasis I salivate like one of Pavlov's pups--though I never knew what I was missing.
SERVICE: 5 stars
AMBIANCE: 3 ghost stars (it's *as if* it's nice in there, but it feels weird to me)
FOOD: 1.5 stars

We HAD to eat here because the asian-rooftop motif continues to the adjacent...gas station? That sells live lobsters?

But the food was kind of bland and it seems like a place for older white folks or just families

The menu sounded a lot better than tasting/eating the actual food. Very typical American Chinese food. If you want authentic Chinese food do not come here.

The appetizers were okay, very bland. We were given ginger soy sauce, spicy mustard sauce, cocktail sauce and sweet and sour sauce. Nice to have all the sauces but it was just not satisfying.

The main dishes were actually flavored pretty good but I don't think I'd go back. I would rather go to a buffet. To be honest, buffet food would have been better for the money spent.

Service was okay. Went during lunch rush on a weekday.

We were looking for somewhere Friday night that wouldn't have too long of a wait and settled on imperial garden. Although the parking lot was packed the inside was much bigger than I realized so we had no problem getting a seat.

I just got cashew chicken while others in my group got mushu pork, fragrant chicken and grilled potstickers. Everyone was happy with their orders and there was plenty leftover for lunch the next day as well. I was happy that the entrees weren't slathered in too much sauce like some places. We did have some issues getting drinks- we had to ask for the drink
