Services
The establishment is named after Rick's grandfather, Harold "Squire" Gordon, a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda. He served in Company K during World War I where he acquired the nickname "Squire." A true character in his own right and always out for a good time, Squire represents the atmosphere we invite our patrons to enjoy.
All sandwiches are served with lettuce and tomato; chips, potato salad or coleslaw, and a pickle, on your choice of club white, *whole wheat, rye or Kaiser roll. All burgers are made from 100% Certified Angus beef and served with chips or potato salad, along with lettuce, tomato and pickle on a Kaiser roll.
Squire's offers a complete menu for all kinds of appetites. From typical Buffalo fare like wings, beef on weck, and an outstanding Friday fish fry, to salads, sandwiches, burgers and steaks - there's something for everyone. Beyond the menu, enjoy dinner specials every night, like our homemade spaghetti on Wednesday nights.
No matter how you order it - beer battered or broiled - it's big, it's juicy and you'll want to come back for more. Even our "Mini" fish fry is more than plenty to satisfy your palate, while our regular fish fry will cater to the heartiest of appetites.
Beyond our famous Friday fish fry, we attract customers across Western New York for our weekly Friday specials, which have included Grouper, Perch, Pike, Trout, Salmon, Shrimp Alfredo and much, much more. What's a fish fry without great sides?

2020 was an incredibly difficult year for millions of small businesses across the nation. Squire's was no exception. Squire's had to go into takeout only mode not once, but twice. The second time was more impactful on the business than the first time, as Niagara County, just 1,000-feet away, was open for dine-in.

So, I have eaten a lot of crab cakes in various places throughout the country, including New Orleans, Cape Cod, Baltimore, and Boston and I can say that Squires has THE BEST crab cakes I have ever had. The crab cakes actually are crab cakes. Not filling with some crabmeat mixed in but just crab meat. They are plump and moist and just simply the best. Their fish fry is made with fresh, not frozen fish therefore it is not soggy between the fish and the fried battered coating, so, so good! The house-made mac and cheese is moist and gooey to perfection. I am not usually a mac and cheese fan but of

My parents and I were on the hunt for a great fish fry. My ideal was a small, neighborhood, family-owned joint known for fresh fish and good sides. A friend recommended Squire's, where we had never been. As soon as we walked in the door I knew this was exactly what I'd been looking for!
Small, unpretentious, with a "Cheers" feel. I swear, everyone knew each other. Patrons from one table would greet others when entering or leaving. The bartenders seemed to be chatting up regulars at the small, cozy bar.

I was in the area and came upon this restaurant and bar. Started out with a big ditch hayburner ipa to quench my thirst. Pretty decent menu. They're known for seafood however Im trying a classic beef on weck. Cooked rare with horseradish on the side.
As a longtime buffalo resident I was not excited with the bun on my sandwich it was kimmelwick with the caraway seed and salt on top. But it was a soft bun almost like a supermarket bought bun. That being said it was fine just not what I expected. The beef was tender if a tad overdone for my taste. My server showed me the sliced beef before it was

This is a very family-orientated place. I called ahead and made a reservation, got there about 10 minutes early, they sat us at the bar to wait for our table, we had a few sips and then sat us at our table. Took our order (fish fry, regular and mini) we got our food super fast and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend.

Went for a fish fry at lunchtime on a Friday. Superb customer service, plethora of menu options, small place. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it wasn't my favorite fish fry. Beer battered or broiled options for fish fry. Would go back and try a different menu option, and would definitely go back for a beer.

Dined once and never again. Our 1st experience was our last!
It was this past Winter not Lent, and we were drawn by a friend's recommendation to try their fish fry. It turned out to be ALMOST the worst I ever had. Cole slaw was served in a DINKY tartar-sauce-sized dipping container. You might as well have had none. The fish tasted like it came straight out of the nearby canal and both of our fish had been broken in half to be served. NOT an impressive presentation.
The place is almost inaccessible as the off-street parking is extremely limited to parallel parking for a handful of cars naturally

A Hidden Treasure with Great Home cooked food"
To see the Squire from the outside is to be transported back to the classic restaurant of the 60's it' in a tiny turn around on Niagara Street in Tonawanda. It's like walking back into the past where everyone knew everyone and you feel warm and welcomed the minute you walk in. Nothing fancy but the service is incredible and the food brings you back to that saying "Comfort food".
We ordered the homemade chips with their own french onion dip for a starter. The chips came out on a large plate still warm and crispy with

This is such a nice little place ticked away from the busy niawanda waterfront. The standing draft beer specials are always a reason to steal a visit. Staff is always friendly and attentive. I got the warrior combo...that is 5 chicken wings and a beef on weck with fries. Really good.
Only thing that would make this place better would be to keep it open on Sundays... Maybe just during the summer?

I was definitely not a fan of Squire's, unfortunately. I gave it two stars for the friendly service at the bar while we were waiting for a table and the other friendly servers. The bartender was kind of all over the place, but she was very nice and served us quickly.
The food was not very good. Yes, we only went once and I didn't get the fish fry (which was highly recommended), but my boyfriend got it and was not a fan. My chicken was bland, to say the least. The "seasoned" potato wedges were not seasoned, and the house salad dressing didn't really taste like much of anything

I was pretty excited to go here after reading all the great reviews... then I actually went there.
I got the fish fry, which was pretty mediocre. There was nothing about this piece of fish that made it seem as good as the other reviewers are saying. Pretty bland. Came with french fries that were frozen and a hackneyed version of cole slaw.
If I ordered what my girlfriend got I would have sent it back. She got the "Fiesta Chicken," which was anything but a party. It was a 6 oz. piece of already cooked and defrosted chicken with some salsa on it and cheddar cheese. The cheddar cheese

For a city festooned with Friday Fish Fry joints, Squires stands up to the best of 'em. Can't finish a huge beer battered haddock? Get a mini. Don't want fries tonight? Get a baker, a sweet baker, potato salad, you get the picture. They're always running specials too. Tonights was beer battered lake perch. Great variety of pub-style grub, and entrees. Or just pony up to the bar on a weeknight to watch the game, or listen to the owners police/fire dept. scanner (or his deadpan crass jokes).
Fish Fry-ers beware, though. Fridays are ALWAYS jamming. But once seated have no fear
