The Honsa family has been serving families in the White Bear Lake and surrounding area since 1962 when Jim Honsa became a funeral director in White Bear Lake. Jim was an active member of the White Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce, White Bear Lions Club and St. Mary of the Lake Church. In 1994, Jim's dream of owning his own funeral home came true when he, his wife Joan and daughter Terry built Honsa Family Funeral Home.
Services
Over the years, we've learned something very valuable, yet largely unrecognized by the general public: a funeral, memorial service, or celebration of life offers family and friends the opportunity to say goodbye to a loved one, and sets the stage for the healing process which follows. It doesn't have to be an elaborate event.
Let us take a moment to say we are so sorry for your loss. We hope that you will find this section of our website helpful in this difficult time. If you are looking for information on what to do now that a death has occurred, this section of our site is a good place to start.
It includes valuable insights on many important issues, such as the kinship order of precedence as it relates to making funeral arrangements, and a list of who you need to contact immediately.

Each of the staff members at Honsa Family Funeral Home is committed to providing your family with the finest in personal end-of-life care. In fact, for years, it's been comforting for area families to know that we are available to help at any time of the day or night. When a loved one dies, all you need to do is make one phone call.
Cremation has been a part of the human experience for a very long time, and is the preferred method of caring for a loved one in many parts of the world. While we could recite statistics on the rising popularity of cremation in North America and other nations, they really won't mean very much to you.
With the growing number of families choosing cremation, manufacturers have responded by developing an extensive number of offerings. Every year, new styles of cremation urns become available. We provide a number of these cremation urns in popular styles fabricated in wood, marble, ceramic, bronze and other new materials.

We just recently lost our Dad and the Honsa family took great care of us and made a difficult time manageable by doing most of the foot work and by making all of the phone calls on our behalf and explaining everything in full detail. I would highly recommend them if you ever need their services. It went smoother then I ever dreamt it would.

The Honsa Family Funeral Home staff was very pleasant to work with in setting up our dad's services recently. They are there to assist with many things you don't even think of at a time when you can use assistance. I would recommend them to others, as we had a very positive experience with them. They assisted with scheduling the priest, recommending a florist, setting up Fort Snelling services, etc. They took a lot of pressure off of the family in making arrangements so we didn't have to make nearly as many calls. We greatly appreciated their help during this difficult time!
