Family owned and operated, the Hutchison Funeral Home of Detroit is a full-service funeral home specializing in traditional burial services, non-traditional burial services, and cremation services. We have served the Detroit, Michigan community for over 35 years, and this experience has provided us with a highly-refined understanding of what our clients need.
At Hutchison Funeral Home, we provide personal, attentive service to each family client. During the family consultation, our clients meet with a member of the Hutchison family to discuss the planning of the funeral service for your loved one. We provide a full range of funeral services, facilities, and merchandise to the Detroit MI community.
A traditional burial is the most common choice of funeral service for many families facing loss. This option has a multitude of accommodations for the funeral service, procession, and burial. For the funeral service, the core of our services will include handling local removal of the body (within a 25-mile radius of the funeral home) and embalming.
At Hutchison Funeral Home, we provide a cremation service and memorial service package as an option for families experiencing loss. This service includes all the elements of a direct cremation: removal and cremation of the body, filing and presentation of the death certificate, a cremation permit required by the county, and a cremation container if you prefer not to provide one.
Direct cremation is one of the cremations services we provide at Hutchison Funeral Home when a loved one has passed. In direct cremation, the body is cremated as soon as possible without visitation or a funeral service. This option is often combined with a later memorial service in lieu of a wake or visitation.

After dealing with the Hutchinson Funeral Home for more than 20 years, I have unfortunately become highly disappointed in their unprofessionalism. I was given the run around with my family member for a month. After all was said and done the Hutchinson Funeral Home decided to issue my family members ashes to an outsider. I was given so many stories from Hutchinson's and receptionist Rita. I was talked to very disrespectful from the Hutchinson son. Just outright lies. I’m usually not a review type of person but I had to leave a review on this one. This funeral home was just flat out tacky! For one, my Uncle spoke with Jamie, prior to my grandfathers viewing on Thursday 9/16 and he told him that he “promised” my grandfather would be in the larger chapel…That was not the case, when we arrived at the funeral home we were in a much smaller chapel with only 6 chairs and had to ask for more. He literally spoke with him the day before the viewing and that was definitely something he could have mentioned about double booking it! But, wait…that’s not even

Excellent service, A+. 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Hutchison came highly recommended, my relative died out of state so we needed to coordinate a return from Florida to Michigan. Everything worked out smoothly, the staff was very responsive, costs were within the normal range. Joseph Hutchison called me within about an hour after talking to his assistant. Upon arrival to the office, I met Hutchison Sr., Ms Rita, and Jaimie. I felt in good hands. This is the 3rd funeral I have coordinated and by far the best service. Very polite & helpful from the time we entered the funeral home. I just want to thank The Hutchison staff for all they did for my family on last week. Ms. Rita was there to greet us with a warm smile & made sure we had whatever we needed. Jamie & Joseph was there no matter what all we had to do was look in they direction & they was there to see what we needed. I lost my Father suddenly so my siblings and I turned to Hutchison in our time of need. I had been there before for services and I grew up 2 blocks away. They were professional, kind and caring.
