Dr. Maria A. Mejia originally graduated with her medical degree from "Universidad de Oriente" in Venezuela, and completed her specialty training in Family Medicine at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. Her interests include primary care for the entire family with an emphasis on preventive care and women's health.

I came to this office as a new patient and have found my new medical providers! I was very pleased with my experience. Scheduling an appointment online was easy and I got ample reminders and communication from the office. Upon arrival, the employee working the front desk was incredible. She was kind, welcoming and friendly. She helped me take care of all the necessary initial paperwork and interacted with me in a professional and gentle way. I saw NP Tanya and really liked her. Where do I start! The staff is lovely when convenient and they always send plenty of reminders when there’s an upcoming appointment! I’ve been going to this practice since July of 2020 and I thought I hit the Jack pot everyone and everything seemed so perfect. The office did mention that the doctors don’t release the lab work until the follow up appointment, which was a first, because I’m 34 with high blood pressure, asthma, and diabetes and that was the first time I ever heard that a doctor office doesn’t release the labs when they become available to them. Dr. María was amazing! She explains everything and she answered my questions. Also like the fact there is phlebotomist on-site. She did mention to wait 5 working days to receive lab results. I received them in two days. They will call you ONLY if there is something to be concerned about and she also told me that too. Overall, very satisfied with everyone.

Not a good experience at all. After paying $400 plus another medication that they prescribed to us for another $400. They then would not tell us our lab results unless we scheduled another appointment and paid another fee. They held our results and made us go to an outside vender to figure out what was going on with my health. Extremely in humane, and completely money driven. Do not visit this place even if you have good insurance. Any doctors office that does not care about your well being as a human being, does not deserve your business. I went to see Dr. Mejia on July 2, 2020. I was told I couldn’t be seen after I sat there for like 30 minutes! I was told to get tested for COVID 19, because I had some symptoms. I was also told that I would be called to do the appointment, also I asked because she had not approved for me to get a spacer for my inhaler(I’m asthmatic). I was told that to not worry that they would handle it. Well to this day July 27.2020; I haven’t heard from Doctor Mejía or her office!!! Also she was very rude with my husband on one of his visits!!! Don’t go see her!! She doesn’t take care of her patients

Me and my girlfriend visited this clinic back in 2018. However, we are getting charged for a no-show fee for an appointment in 2019 that we never made!!! We never agreed to come in for a follow-up or made any other commitments with this clinic. They said they will report the no show fee to collections? I am giving a warning to everyone going to this clinic, be careful as they will try to find a way to make money off of you.

This was our first time at Family Medicine MMC) and, without a doubt, it was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere.
