Dr. Gautam Dogra moved to Sacramento to pursue his dream of opening a dental office and helping people with beautiful smiles. He loves being able to create long lasting relationships with his patients. Dr. Dogra prides himself in being extremely gentle, caring and compassionate.
After having first completed a five year dental program in India, he obtained his California Dental Licensure at the prestigious Loma Linda University in Southern California.With over 14 years of experience in General and Cosmetic Dentistry, he has been providing excellent dental care to the communities of Northern California for more than 10 years now.

At your first visit, we will start out with a thorough examination and radiographs so that we can evaluate your overall dental health. This also allows Dr. Dogra to take a look at anything that is bothering you, such as tooth pain, bleeding gums, loose or broken teeth, and also inspect any existing fillings, crowns, bridges, or veneers.
At Confident Smiles, we know and understand the importance of good preventive care. Part of this includes brushing and flossing your teeth properly. Good dental preventive care is critical to ensuring a healthy mouth, including your gums and teeth. Many people don't know that their oral health actually has a significant impact on their overall health too.
Cavities (also known as dental caries) are caused by a number of things, including bacteria, poor oral hygiene, frequent snacking, and drinking sugary drinks. Once a cavity forms, the damage is permanent. Your tooth cannot heal itself, and if left untreated, the cavity will continue to grow and may require more extensive intervention than a filling.

If I had one word to describe this dentist's work it would be SLOPPY. I would only come here for routine cleaning and exam - absolutely No DENTAL work. This dentist talks and explains a lot but makes poor decisions when it comes to how to address teeth that need work. Also the work he does is sloppy and not well done. Now that I'm reading other reviews I can see that I'm not the only one that has had issue with his performance. Most of the time he is unsure of what to do so sends out patients to endodontist. This used to me my dentist five years ago. I thought he was a good one but unfortunately not. I was recommended by him to have two root canals about five years ago. Both of them done by him. He never got the bite for the right side correct, the mold was done improperly, and I had to go back several times for it to be readjusted. Fast forward five years later and I'm having to replace that crown again, crowns should last much longer than that. Also when I went to another dentist and he compared X-rays, he was baffled by the fact that I needed root canals to begin with. I'm so hurt. I trusted

Dr. Dogra and his staff (assistants and front office staff) are so nice. I'm always greeted pleasantly when I walk in. Their on-line forms make dealing with info collection and Covid protocols simple. They're good about explaining things thoroughly, both before they start work and during the work. I've only been to 4 dentists in my life, and Dr. Dogra is my favorite.

I went here twice, and am glad I waited to review after the second time. The first time you go they treat you right and make you feel important. The DR came in to meet me (though briefly) and welcomed me. The cleaning was old school IMO as they physically scape the teeth instead of using the ultra sonic cleaners (which I thought most dentists used these days). It wasn't a problem, I felt like my gums were cleaned.
The second visit they did not x-ray me (OK insurance pays for those 1x/year) nor did they plan to have the DR stop by. This to me was a big red flag. I've never been to a dentist where

Really good dentistry practice all around. The staff at the desk are great with explaining insurance details. Dental assistants are very kind and do great work with X-rays and getting the patient (me) ready for the dentist. Dr Dogra pulled two infected teeth for me on very short notice. One front tooth and one wisdom. He did a wonderful job of numbing me up and getting the teeth extracted without any pain. Didn’t even hurt the next day. 100% recommended.

Awesome experience every time. My partner and I are signed up for the family membership plan. We get 2 exams/cleaning per year and a discount on other services. We've been with them for a couple of years now. I just had 4 wisdom teeth extracted.... a pain-free experience. They did an amazing job. I had a bit of an issue with the healing, Dr. Dogra saw me immediately and fixed the issue within 1 hour.

I had previously only come here for cleanings, which were all great, but today's appointment for two fillings prompted me to come to Yelp to say how much I like this place. I told the Doctor that I was feeling anxious about the procedure, and he was amazing - talking me through the entire process, coaching me to breathe while he injected the numbing agent, checking in with me throughout the procedure to make sure I was OK. He was super quick with the work, keeping me posted on what he was doing throughout. I'm really glad I found this place!

I am an objectively terrible dental patient with what are becoming equally terrible teeth. Despite needing two crowns within the last 6 months this has been by far the most pleasant experience I've ever had with a dentist. The crown on my front tooth is indistinguishable from my other teeth and the staff here are super nice and helpful. Their covid protocols are good.
Again I truly, deeply hate going to the dentist, but I don't entirely dread coming here.

Got a cap put on one of my lower molars from this dentist. They showed me a sample cap that was too yellow and I asked to see more color samples so I could choose one that actually matched my teeth. I chose a slightly whiter color than what they had shown me and when I held the sample tooth up against mine, it was the same color (meaning it would blend well with the teeth in my mouth.
However, after the cap was put on it was 10 times brighter than the one I had wanted. Now whenever I open my mouth there is a fluorescent excruciatingly bright white (almost green, not even kidding) tooth screaming

As someone not originally from Sacramento, I was extremely overwhelmed by trying to find a new dentist when I first moved here. I tried a couple of different offices and felt more like a number than a patient. My fiancé recommended me to Confident Smiles and I could not be happier with them! The staff is so incredibly friendly and professional. Their office is clean and conveniently located in Midtown.
