After attending a friends birth I knew that birth was the place for me. I wanted to know more about birth and how to advocate, support, comfort and use my massage skills to help laboring women. I completed Seattle Midwifery Schools Doula Program in 2003 and started attending births as a volunteer at UW Hospital.
I use a deep tissue, relaxation style massage specialized to treat chronic pain and tension. I like to incorporate Trigger Point, Lomi Lomi, Craniosacral, Ayurvedic Head Massage, stretching and Myofascial techniques. My focus involves treating each person as an individual and gearing the massage towards meeting the specific needs.
I offer induction massages to ease the mind, relax the body, stimulate the uterus, soften the cervix and encourage baby to come on out. I use massage, aromatherapy, acupressure and Chinese cupping as my tools. Sometimes just getting the brain and body to relax gets things moving along. Massage also gives you a great nights sleep which is the best way to head into labor.
Peninsula Birth and Bodywork is a cannabis friendly massage practice. I offer a topical blend of the finest cannabis oil the Northwest has to offer. Using cannabis topically on isolated parts of the body for aches, pains and inflammation does not have any intoxication effects. What you will feel is an overall sense of well being along with a mild "melting" or "floating" sensation as your nerves calm and you drift into cannabliss.
Birth takes so muscle and I am a massage therapist. I have been a professional and active doula since 2003. I have attended over 400 births in fifteen different hospitals, three birth centers and many, many homes. I am an active doula in the birth room.
