I normally don't write reviews but I had to write this one. Yesterday 9/21/2020 I called this doctor's office to get an appointment cause my crown fell off and my tooth broke. This was the first number I dialed after looking online for a dentist. The woman who answered the phone was very rude but could get me an appointment at 9 am the same day.( I called around 8:30) was desperate to see the dentist. I had been seeing Dr Johnson for several years and spent thousands of dollars beyond what insurance would cover. Now that my family is on Medicaid, he won't see us. Our new practitioner has discovered that he charged for work that was never done, and completely unnecessary. Nice man who touts his service abroad as a Christian mission. Apparently 'love thy neighbor' only applies if you live in Bangladesh, not Greenwood. If you have money to burn and no regard for your dental health, this is the place for you.

Dr. Johnson was recommended to me by a trusted family member. I went to my appointment and after sitting down with him to discuss my care plan I was hit with the fact that I would need 2 crowns and 4or 5 fillings, totaling to nearly $4,000 in dental and completely maxing out my insurance. I was understandably upset and decided to get a second… opinion from my old dentist in Carmel. He and the other doctor in the practice both told me that I needed no work and had no idea why this was being recommended to me after reviewing both my x-rays and examining my mouth. Okay, I have to set the record straight. Of course most of the people that are going to put a review are those that have felt they did not receive the service they had expected. I personally have been going to dr. Johnson's practice for 20 years and have never experienced anything other than the best in professionalism and service. I don't normally fill out these reviews, but I could not allow a few disgruntled people to skew the ratings of this wonderful office. I recently moved to the area and needed a dentist and thankfully I found Dr. Johnson's practice. They got me in quick when I needed a root canal and eased my mind about it. And as someone who hates going to the dentist, they made it easy and not so scary. The staff has always been so welcoming and easy to talk to. Had to get this out. They tell me I need 7 crowns. Which will cost me over 8K and a ton of other stuff I "needed". I'm 32 and certainly didn't think I needed that much work so I got a second opinion. I need one small filling, and maybe a crown in a year or so. Hilarious. I know someone who had a crown done by these guys, well it just came out. You've been warned. Stay away.

I understand dentistries are businesses, but this one is more like a scamming business. I've never been OVER-CHARGED in my life for dental care until I came here. The front office people are nice to you until they need to squeeze their overly price fees out of you, then the become vicious. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this dentist. We chose Dr. Johnson because my husband has a terrible gag reflex and sedation dentistry seemed a good solution. He performed wisdom tooth extractions on my husband. During the process he shattered part of his jaw causing splinters to work their way up through the gums. We continued to visit Dr. Johnson because my husband was in extreme pain, soaring fevers, could not tolerate chewing.

I bought a groupon for a dental exam, xrays, cleaning and whitening with Dr Johnson for my husband and I. Everything looks good from the outside- beautiful office, friendly staff and thorough exam. I left my appt hearing that I had 5 cavities when I've only had 1 my entire life when I was 7. I went for preventive checkup without any pain but with some issue with food trapping in my teeth. Doctor recommended crown and filling on several teeth. I followed and scheduled procedures up to maximum insurance allowance for the year. I pre-paid for a cleaning and exam but then when I called to book the appointment they refused to do both on the same visit? When I told them they could skip the exam and just clean my teeth they refused saying they wouldn't know what type of cleaning I required. Seems like an upscale scam. It's tough for me to miss a single day for my appointment and I sure couldn't take two days off just to get my teeth cleaned. Demanded a refund and that wasn't a problem.
