I work with people who suffer from anxiety, worry, depression and stress. I recognize that all the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors associated with anxiety and depression are simply part of being human, yet at times this suffering can become unmanageable and feel unsolvable. With this perspective, I work with each person or couple to create a compassionate proactive course of therapy.
My services are absolutely private and confidential, so I can't disclose actual stories of clients' lives. The examples below represent a few of the varied life situations and circumstances that bring people to my office. The details vary, but our very human struggles have many similarities. It's hard for all of us to step outside our comfort zone and look at issues from a new perspective - that's why it's sometimes important to have help.
I provide individual and couples therapy to adults of all ages - including young adults and Seniors. Psychotherapy is a process during which a client works in close collaboration with a mental health practitioner to reduce distressing emotional experiences such as depression or anxiety; to change behaviors such as procrastination or angry outbursts; and to improve relationships, work, and other life activities.
I specialize in CBT for anxiety and depression because I've found it to be so effective in treating these conditions. From young adults through seniors, the people I work with come from a variety of life situations and may include anyone who is facing change. I am a member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, an organization that certifies qualified Cognitive Behavioral Therapists.
Depression is overwhelming. People have a range of experiences that may include sadness, fatigue, hopelessness, emptiness, and loss of interest in activities that used to be enjoyable. The world seems dark. It may be difficult to get out of bed in the morning - and yet staying in bed does not bring any consolation.
