Services
The traditional funeral service provided services with the body present. This incorporates a visitation when family and friends pay their final respects, say prayers and to share stories and memories about the deceased. This portion of the service is usually in the afternoon and/or evening with an open and/ or closed casket specified by the family.
Pre-arranging and pre-funding are two separate concepts are not reliant on one or the other. You may pre-arrange by simply writing down what type of services you desire and sharing that infonnation with your family and funeral director. Some prefer using the "Incase of my death, read the contents of this envelope" method.
At a minimum, provide us with your name and telephone number and tell us how you'd like us to work with you on the remaining information using the options at the base of the form. Additional Family Members (please list children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters as well as city and state of residence.)
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).
