The Smile Shoppe was founded at its current location in Highland nearly 60 years ago by Dr. Thomas Barker. A family man with six young children at the time, Dr. Barker built his practice around values of personalized care and genuine relationships with his patients. Twenty-four years later, his son Dr. Byron Barker graduated from dental school and began practicing in the same office in which he had grown up.
We strive to foster genuine, personal relationships with our patients so we can provide the type of care that you need and deserve, and will always approach your situation with a heart of compassionate gentleness. We understand that our patients sometimes come to us with fear or anxiety, and we will work with you every step of the way to make each visit comfortable.
Kim has been in dentistry since 1996 and knows the ins and outs of insurance and financing better than anyone. On Kim's off time, she enjoys working as a volunteer at the school library, reading and watching Cameron play hockey and soccer. With 20 years of administrative and customer service expertise, Kimberli is always ready to greet patients with a smile and provide the best experience in supporting your needs.

From start to finish I have never had a better dental experience. My daughter had an emergency (severe swelling and extreme pain) and I called hoping they could get her in. They accommodated us so quickly. The insurance forms were online so we had all that done before we ever got to the office. Every single staff member, hygienist and Dr Altadonna took the time to explain everything. She is 16 and they spoke to her so that she understood what was happening. The pricing was upfront. I could go on and on. I will be moving all of my families care to here. They are simply exceptional.

I’ve been with my previous dental office for 20 years. After some encounters with unfriendly staff and feeling I wasn’t getting the most for my dollar Sarah convinced me to come to The Smile Shoppe to get my teeth cleaned. I am so happy she did too! My experience at The Smile Shoppe was nothing short of fantastic. The employees are professional, yet friendly!! The were knowledgeable and informative. Sarah did a great job cleaning my teeth. I’ve nevee left an office feeling more confident about my smile. She took her time and explained what she was doing/using. She made me feel extremely comfortable

Showed up for my appointment today for a problem tooth to be fixed. There was no record of the appointment on the calendar. The receptionist apologized and said that I could come back the next day. I was irritated due to having taken off work. A few minutes later they came back and said they would get me in. Dr Altadonna started his week off, off because of me. The staff remained cordial and apologetic. When I checked out with Kim (om) she verified that my treatment plan did state that I did have an appointment at the time I showed up and she again apologized. The procedure lasted @ 45 minutes

My visit today was an example of that. I received a crown in one sitting, using new technology that creates the crown during the visit. The process was pretty efficient, since they were able to combine the crown-creation time with work on another tooth, finishing the work on the second tooth about the time the crown was finished being created.

Friendly staff, very good with patent care, and a beautiful office setting. Considering all the pop up dental offices that are only interested in volume, the Smile Shoppe is a refreshing reminder that you get what you pay for. They refuse to give in to the new way, and continue to provide their customers with the best care around.

I have come to the smile shop for over 20 years. I always have an incredible experience due to the friendly dentists and hygienists, but the biggest reason why I have never looked for another dentist is because the staff at The Smile Shop is knowledgeable and profesional, further more, I would not trust my teeth with any other dentist.
