Third Coast Martial Arts
Third Coast Martial Arts is a family-oriented year round school specializing in Tae Kwon Do and other self-defense techniques. Head Instructors undergo an extensive, fingerprint-based national criminal history background check. Third Coast has a "no vaccination no enrollment" policy. Third Coast Personal Training can help you reach your fitness goals regardless of your fitness level or age.

Personal Training programs include: rehabilitation from surgeries, treatment for debilitating effects of osteoporosis, weight & flexibility training, Specialized programs for teens, adults and mature adults. Kids who study martial arts were found to perform better in math, be more attentive, have better social skills, and have an easier time focusing in class than those who did not.
Services
At that time we trained students in a small space in the back of a Jack Brown Cleaners at the corner of Northland Drive and Parkcrest in Austin. We didn't realize at the time how popular Third Coast Martial Arts would become. By 1999, we had so many students that we outgrew the old space behind the Jack Brown Cleaners.
Our school philosophy involves blending tradition, hard work, commitment and discipline with a sense of fun, humor and community. We invite and encourage adults to participate in our all-age classes. Often parents and their children enjoy learning martial arts together, making it a family experience.
Leon was introduced to martial arts as a kid. He has been a practitioner, off and on, for a number of years. In addition to his black belt in American Tae Kwon Do, he has also studied judo and WTF Tae Kwon Do. Leon is the RCRA Waste Manager for the Texas Military Department and Associate Pastor at St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
I wanted to tell ya'll how much both my kids enjoy the Lil' Dragons class. They really try hard every week to get Lil' Dragon of the Day, and been so proud when they get it. Thanks for the great program! Tae Kwon Do has raised his self-confidence and taught him life skills that will always be part of him.
Third Coast summer camps are now full. Students & staff will be screened at the door, staff and instructors will wear masks. All CDC guidelines will be followed to reduce risk & exposure including strict hand washing and hand sanitizing stations & social distancing of 6'. Masks are required. There are no refunds for camps unless camp is cancelled by Third Coast.

The instructors are fantastic with kids; there's an expectation of respect, but also a fun atmosphere. It really does feel like a community, not just a class. My son has a hard time at school and struggles with social skills, but TCMA is the first place I've seen him really excel at participating, working hard at something that doesn't immediately come naturally to him, and socializing. I would highly recommend them!

My son started as a Little Dragon and now is an Orange belt. He is passionate and loves every minute learning the art of Tae Kwon Do. I credit the Masters, Instructors and all the upper belts instructing him with their knowledgeable, skills and patience.
He feels at home at Third Coast Martial Arts.

We have tried both the camps and the weekly instruction from Third Coast. At first, I thought that the camps seemed a little more $ than I was used to paying. After each day of the camp the kids were busting with excitement to go back. They had a great combination of active play, crafts, field trips, martial arts etc all in one day. They took my kids on some amazing field trips every day. So after seeing how much they loved it, and just how much they got to do I realized it was well with the money. We plan to do more camps this summer.

We also enrolled our 5 year old in the little dragons class

We signed our son up at Third Coast in January 2016.
I called in and spoke to Jami originally and she was very helpful and answered all my questions. She gave the impression that bedsides learning martial arts, the kids will also be taught discipline and respect in everything they do.
It was important to us that not only does he learn martial arts, but that he also earns his way and doesn't get any "participation trophies.".
After only a year and a half our son has earned his purple belt. He has worked extremely hard under the encouragement of the Third Coast instructors.

My daughter has been a student at Third Coast Martial Arts for several years now, both in the after school pick up program and at summer camp. She has done very well, and recently achieved her red belt. The instructors are excellent and very supportive of the students in their advancement towards earning a black belt. Summer camps are affordable, and offer lots of activities for the kids, usually with some swimming! So glad I found this place for her!

My son has been at TCMA for 4 years and loves it. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and experienced as they have all come up through the belt levels themselves at TCMA. They are all great at what they do and how they teach and correct, attention to detail,
professionalism with high and positive expectations of respect from the students. They teach with discipline but are all able to keep it light with humor thrown in.
The kids all seem to enjoy class and it's overall a fun, positive and welcoming environment to all people, kids and adults.
Mr. Swan is among our favorite instructors

My son has trained and studied at TCMA for six years, and I cannot recommend them and Master Seay more strongly. Belts are not just handed out, the tests are real, students work hard and form lifelong bonds with the gym, as the many young men and women who continue as students and instructors attest.

My daughter is starting her second year at Third Coast. This has been her first experience with martial arts, and she has enthusiastically embraced it thanks to the staff. They do a great job of making Tae Kwon Do fun, while instilling discipline and a strong sense of pride in the kids as they progress through the belts.
From Master Seay on down, the staff is great with the kids and the communication with the parents is timely and effective. We're glad we found Third Coast for our daugther, and we look forward to her continuing her personal and Tae Kwon Do development here.

Third Coast has been such a blessing to us. Our son attends the after school program and summer camp. He has grown leaps and bounds in his confidence and loves going to see Mrs. Hatch and the gang. He has learned discipline and blossomed under their guidance.

My kids have both been going here for years and it's been a great experience. The instructors all know my kids and they have lots of classes. They go twice a week and always feel so good after their class. They especially enjoy sparring. We started with Little Dragons as a way to help my son with some self control and the accountability and expectation set for him and my daughter have been a great help for both of them.

TCMA is THE place to take TaeKwonDo. It is as much a community as it is a school. They teach people from age 5 to 95. There are lots of parent child duos as well as loads of kids and many adults that come solo.

My son and I have been attending classes regularly for three years. In the beginning we only went together but a year into it we both enjoyed our time there so much that we started taking classes whenever we could with or without the other and now go 3 or 4 times a week.

The kids I've seen leave that school (for college) have left with exceptional leadership skills and confidence
