Are you feeling middle aged and wondering who were you meant to be? Have you always taken care of everyone else while overlooking yourself? Is your life pushing you to finally become truly authentic? Are you not sure what that even means? It still isn't easy for women to do it all. We often just fall into living the roles we're handed, and then we wake up one day and feel unsatisfied, as if our own lives have passed us by.
Losing someone or something you love is very painful - and it's something that almost everyone will experience at some point in their lives. Loss that goes unacknowledged or unattended can result in disability. But grief that is expressed and experienced has a potential for healing that eventually can strengthen and enrich life.
I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit. For many years I have watched human behavior, through the lens of a therapist and a human being on this planet. I have worked with clients from all walks of life with compelling issues of grief and loss. I have watched them grow and become the amazing human beings they were always meant to be.
Therapy should be private, and the client should have as many sessions as she/he feels would be helpful without having to deal with the restrictions of insurance. Insurance companies ask many questions of the therapists which are personal. Paying out of pocket is a real commitment to your well being, and your mind, body and emotions will know you're serious about getting better.
How do we get more comfortable with this? There are some unknown facts about death that we don't know yet. When will we die, why do so people live longer than others? If we could just be more able to discuss and be aware that death is a fact, I think it could help us get more accustomed to aging and then dying.
