Services
Our practice has roots that reach back to the mid 1960's. Dr. Paul Appel arrived in Madison from the University of Iowa and started his practice on Monona Drive. He became well known in Monona and the eastside of Madison for his high quality of dentistry and for his ability to bring patients out the "Dark Age" of dentistry, when fear was the overriding feeling of the experience.
At Door Creek Dental, we offer all forms of dentistry to treat the entire family. From an initial dental visit for your 2 year-old child, Invisalign Clear Aligner treatment for mom, to implant treatments for grandma; each dentist at Door Creek Dental has an abundance of knowledge, expertise and experience to satisfy the needs of all our patients.
Also known as gum disease, it is a chronic infection that can become painful and destroy the bone that supports your teeth. Eventually, so much bone may be lost that your teeth will become loose, and in severe cases, have to removed. Periodontal disease cannot be cured, it can only be maintained. Scaling and Root Planing : this procedure removes plaque, tartar, and bacterial toxins from the tooth surfaces below the gum line.
Conventional Partial Dentures: Replacement when many, but not all the teeth in the upper and lower arches are missing. Implant Retained Dentures: Implants can be added to provide more stability to a full denture, especially on the lower teeth areas. View the video below from the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry about Removable Denture treatment.

Friendly Staff, great dentists and they really know what they are doing and talk to through with you. They want to make sure you are comfortable with what they need to do. Dr K & To are wonderful, can't imagine going any where else. Our family has been going here for many years, over 21 years. Our daughter has been seeing them since since she was a year old and loved going and seeing everyone. Can't say enough about them and their staff.

Everyone at Door Creek Dental works so hard to make sure your teeth are healthy and that you feel comfortable and well cared for. I'm really glad I go here for all of my dentistry needs!
My dental hygienist, Michele remembered that I was starting a new career as a Doula and asked me how business is going. Dr. Kirkpatrick took time to answer my questions and it didn't feel like he was doing a drive-by like some other dentists I've had in the past. I've been seen by Dr. To in the past and she is excellent as well. I love her happy personality!
I especially appreciate their flexibility when I bring

A friend recommended this dental office a couple of years ago. I started going that year and I am grateful for the referral every time I visit. Clean, warm, and welcoming staff. Always greeted with a smile coming and going. My hygienist, Michelle, is very skilled, never have any discomfort during or after a cleaning. She is engaging and informative. Dr Kirkpatrick follows up the cleaning with an exam and never seems rushed, addressing any questions. Just opened back up due to COVID and was managed extremely well. They have gone to extreme lengths to insure the safety of their clientele and

This is a very nice dental office. First of all it looks brand new and is nicely decorated. Everything is clean and bright. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and efficient. The hygenist was personable and did a great job. The dentist, I had Dr. To-Schwalbach, was great. She was kind and knowledgeable. She explained my treatment well. I made another appt. for a couple fillings. They gave me an estimated cost sheet before and after insurance, which I definitely appreciate!

Selected Door Creek dental at first just out of ease and convenience since they are about .5 miles from where I live. However, what has kept me coming back is their state of the art equipment, the affability of their staff, the level of professionalism and their willingness to communicate with me and not try to up sell me on anything that I do not want or need. This is a dentist's office, after all and not a retail outlet.
They have a laser device that removes tartar from your teeth that is really cool and I needed two porcelain crowns which they were able to make in-house. I am also pleased

I had never had any issues with my teeth before coming here 6 months ago. My hygenist was an older blonde lady with (typically) flawless teeth that she has doubtlessly spent thousands of dollars on. She rudely and derisively chided me for my less than perfect teeth while basically calling me a liar when I told her that I brush and floss daily. She acted like she was disgusted by the fact that she had to clean my teeth. Mind you, up until that point I had never had a cavity. I told her my teeth naturally accumulate a lot of plaque and tartar, hence the reason for my visit. She then recommended that

I, my husband, and my children have all gone here for years and I heartily recommend Door Creek Dental. I sort of have a phobia about dentists and seriously, who looks forward to teeth cleaning? But they are so skilled and so nice. Plus they have the latest technology. I had to have a crown and it was designed and fashioned right there and fitted all in one visit. Very cool.
