Burns Garfield Funeral Home is a fourth generation funeral home originally founded by E.P. Burns in the early 1900's. It was carried by J.P. Burns and then by Sehl Burns, and was located on West Onondaga Street. With the acquisition of Garfield Funeral Home on Westcott Street in 1979, the business became Burns-Garfield Funeral Home.

In the movie "Memorial Day" young Kyle Vogle confronts his taciturn grandfather with this question as he seeks to deepen his relationship and satisfy his curiosity about a mysterious trunk he found in the barn. The end result: his grandfather relents and we learn his story. In the movie, it turns out (unbeknownst to his family and friends) that he is a war hero.
Thank you for taking such great care of our family during our sisters passing. Your tenderness and compassion will never be forgotten. Those days were the darkest days in our lives. Your help with difficult decisions and wonderful skill at planning and directing the funeral created a very meaningful family experience.

I was truly impressed by the professionalism and caring by Tim and his staff when our mom passed away at the age of 100. She loved Jeopardy and her winter trips to Florida. Tim created a Jeopardy "stage" with our Mom as a contestant and had of a running loop of family photographs on the wall. He created a celebration of everything that made our mom truly special. His creativity and empathy made this day memorable. Highly recommend and give 5 🌟 s.

Tim and his employees were very compassionate and walked us through the process during the difficult time with the loss of our father. Burns-Garfield did an excellent job with visitation hours after my sister's passing. They had comfortable seating for the older members of our family. The unique video boards that stretched around the room allowed groups of family and friends to view photos from their seats and share old stories and remembrances. It was a great way to bring people together, while not making us feel like we were crowding around a small poster board. Thanks to the staff.

Very caring, patient and detailed to those who have passed on. They transformed the area to what felt like every memory and favorite detail of what my grandfather did and loved in his life. I highly recommend Burns Garfield Funeral Home. I worked with Tim, who was professional and caring. Planning a service for a loved-one is never easy, but Tim's caring attitude made it much easier for me. He is very good with technology, and he some modern touches with pictures/video that I've never seen at a Memorial Service. He produced a beautiful program for me and my guests with some personal touches. I am still getting compliments on the service and program. He really captured the spirit of mother with everything he did.

Burns Garfield handled all 4 of my loving grandparents funeral services and I could not have asked for better quality. Most recently was my Granny in May. Tim Burns was the epitome of professionalism from start to finish. He took care of many details that would have been overlooked otherwise during hustle and bustle of getting the services planned. This gave my family a feeling of calm as we prepared to say goodbye one last time.

This funeral home truly makes you feel as if you’re at your loved one’s final party, not calling hours or funeral. Happy memories of your loved one (some fun designs as well) project on the walls. There’s posters, puzzles, blankets - Fun trinkets with the memories you shared to cherish forever. Tim was very accommodating to my family’s specific requests. Overall - They made a very difficult experience much more relaxing and comforting.

Tim at Burns Garfield transformed their space into a room that felt like home and showed my mother's personality. During such an emotional time you need someone who is organized, compassionate and dedicated to the memory of your loved one. Tim went above and beyond in all of these areas. He brought my mother's memory alive and it gave comfort to our family as well as those who came to pay their respects. This type of person and this type of service are hard to find, and this is the time when you need it the most! I will be forever grateful for their assistance in helping us lay my mother to rest
