Are you an adult or parent looking for a martial art which teaches extremely practical self defense? Trying to improve your focus, core strength, flexibility and balance? Do you or your child like understanding the why behind everything so you're not just copying patterns but learning things which actually make sense and can be used outside the dojo?
What sets Kenpo Karate apart from other martial arts styles, is that it cultivates the critical thinker mentality. Every form taught in Kenpo Karate is introduced both solo, done by yourself, and also as a series of practical self defense moves with attackers. If you have ever had that light bulb moment of understanding, that is the magic of Kenpo Karate.

The name of Immortal Tiger comes from Kata #17 in our system, which my instructor Master Professor Bill Grossman created as a gift for his instructor Senior Grand Master Rick Alemany. Alemany liked the form so much that it was incorporated into our system as key kata #17. I have always liked the imagery of tigers in martial arts, and wanted a way to pay homage to my instructor, so naming our school after Grossman's form was my way of doing this.
We teach the above listed 12 "Kids Love Life Skills" concepts in this class, while also helping your kids channel their energy, learn basic self defense, and understand the basics of karate. We provide structure and a foundation to help them thrive during these formative years. It may seem like a bunch of games on the outside, but each drill/game we utilize helps to solidify both the life skill and the kenpo self defense parts being taught.
Here at Immortal Tiger Kenpo Karate we believe that "why" is as important as "how". As kids are now in grade school at these ages we help them grow the thinking skills to be successful not only in the dojo but in the classroom and at home. Each technique they learn the practical application that goes with it.
Here at Immortal Tiger Kenpo Karate we believe that "why" is as important as "how". Teens need this essential skill for success in high school, college and life in general. Adults have hopefully already learned a good foundation for critical thinking and analysis but we further work to fine tune that.
Kenpo student and assistant instructor Jeff Gladd is excited to develop and begin this new program to help train yourself or your child to master the art of using the glowing sabers as seen in sci-fi / fantasy films! Foam swords will be provided for beginner students. Later on buying your own blade from UltraSabers along with protective gear will be required.

Cat is an excellent teacher and we have had a great learning experience so far. Me and my wife joined Cat’s virtual Karate classes through zoom during the beginning of the pandemic. We have successfully accomplished "Blue" belt. All thanks to Cat’s creative teaching techniques, her patience and commitment which keeps us motivated .

I am a VERY shy person who has a hard time being out in public settings. A friend had signed us up to take this class so we could protect ourselves from anything. Cat (The instructor) was very welcoming and made me feel as if we were lifelong pals. I quickly felt comfortable and all my anxiety seemed to be non-existent. I learned a great deal of discipline all while having fun doing it! There was a few times I struggled to remember things (my fault) and she continuously worked with me till I got it down. If I had not moved across country I would still be in her class! She has extensive training

My husband looked for a dojo for us to train in for 2 years but all we’re either too expensive or did not have good value until Cat wandered into my husband’s paint job. Ever since then we’ve been going to Immortal Tiger and have a plan to make it to the end! And Cat is behind us 100%. Cat is an amazing instructor and is as dedicated to you as you are!

Seriously one of the best Karate experiences I've ever had! Kenpo is focused on self-defense, making it very useful for anybody to learn. Every class is informative, fun, and a great workout. Instructor Cat is such a kind, understanding, and experienced teacher. She replies extremely quickly to any questions in and out of class, is very empathetic for everyone's story, and has an incredibly easy to lear style that really works. You will be hard pressed to find someone as passionate and skilled as Cat in Austin, and you'd be depriving yourself of a great experience if you don&apos

I absolutely love it here! I have been here for a couple of months and I really enjoy the connection with my teacher, Kat. She is very skilled and acknowledgable of what she is teaching. The best part is how friendly the environment it. I love how I can work on my own pace without feeling judgment. Totally recommend.
