In addition, APDS provides community outreach, which includes male and female support groups and a 9-week SMART 2.0 Summer Enrichment Program for youth ages 6 to 13. APDS has a staff of 23 including 10 seasonal employees.APDS is certified by Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS).

The history of the Africentric Personal Development Shop (APDS) has now been unfolding for over sixteen years. It began when Niambi (Barbara) and I knew that I was going to retire from The Ohio State University. We acknowledged that I was not going to sit and do nothing. We also knew that we had been active in the African community throughout our marriage.
APDS offers a comprehensive range of effective and innovative educational and social services. 1. Wellness programs, treatment and recovery services for individuals, families, organizations and communities through three program areas:. 2. Consultation, educational programs, cultural activities and services to strengthen communities.
This program is designed to assist men and women with anger, violence and substance abuse issues in developing tools, coping skills and techniques that promote improved family, relational and societal functioning. To assist men and women with positive personal development. We provide a place where men and women can gather, share, seek information and gain insight.

The counselor John Williams degrades every client, like they’re not there for help. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody. They get mad when you have a rebuttable excuse on why you think things differently. I think it’s because of the repetitive classes he has to do daily he gets bored with the last class. Waist of time.
