NorthWest Engineering Service
In 1958, Crombie Service Company (later renamed NorthWest Engineering Service, Inc.) was founded by long-time friends Allen Crombie and Gene Garoutte. They attended the same high school in Eugene, served in WWII, and studied Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State College (now Oregon State University).

They were among the first to recognize a radical idea at the time: heating and ventilation had become so complex, engineers were needed "in the trenches", taking hands-on measurements and making adjustments to ensure systems were properly balanced.
Services
We spend a huge amount of time in facilities learning, conducting business, and interacting with others. This environment should be comfortable, accessible, and most importantly, safe. These places should not be areas of fear or suspicion, yet this is exactly what's happened as unhealthy air has become a more pressing concern.
An employee-owned company is a company owned at least 30% by the employees. In NWESI's case, employees own 100% of the company through an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan). After NWESI's founders decided to retire, the company found itself in an expanding market with an increased awareness-and demand-for building commissioning.
Many of our employees work on active construction sites including potentially unsafe spaces such as roofs, manufacturing areas, and boiler rooms. As a team we ensure all client, contractor, and OSHA requirements are met or exceeded. Safety Committee Members are informed of relevant safety concerns, hazardous situations, and current regulations.
At NWESI, these are ambitions we share. If they are also yours, we want to talk to you. See our open positions below to learn more and apply! We believe that talent and interest in Commissioning and TAB positions should always be open to consideration for the right people. Connect with us at any time by applying to Ongoing Applications to submit your name for future opportunities.
NWESI meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism throughout its business practices. We protect the environment by conserving energy, recycling, and incorporating environmentally friendly technologies and products as part of our regular work environment. We support sustainability by working with regional waste management agencies to follow prescribed guidelines.
