Dan Putnam was born and raised in Star Valley, Wyoming. After attending college at the University of Wyoming, he began working in construction. Dan started at the ground floor as a laborer, learning the ropes and becoming a foreman at the age of 22. At the age of 28 he became a partner in Five Star Construction.
