He continued working for McKee into the mid 1980's as a dedicated employee but his desire to own his own business pushed him to leave McKee, hire a helper and begin sub contracting commercial garage door installs for various door companies in Grand Rapids. Dad worked day and night for the next few years saving every penny, looking forward to the day
