His father, Dennis Michael Shanks, ran D.M. Shanks Painting in California for 20 years. He relocated to Arizona where he spent the next 11 years in the painting business. Mike worked for his father in California for 10 years. After his father's relocation Mike went to work for Premier Industrial Painting as a Paint Foreman.

Mike did a excellent job repairing the drywall on a really messy bathroom/bedroom remodel. He matched all the ceiling and
