After more than 20 years and several hundred weddings all over the world, I have retired from full time photography. Thank you to all my wonderful clients and all the great people I've met in the wedding, commercial, and photography industries! It was a fun ride but I've been winding this business down for a few years now and it's time to make it official.
I'll still be shooting, but now I'll just be off playing around with a Leica rangefinder creating images that personally satisfy me and spending time with my family.

I feel so lucky to have the kind of job that allows me to meet amazing people and to create images that they love and will cherish for their entire lives. It makes me feel like I do the kind of work that really matters! I am very proud of how many referrals I get from past clients and how many come back after I was their wedding photographer to have me as their family portrait photographer.
What a winter we've had here in Bend Oregon, Another 4" of snow this morning for my sore back to shovel bringing the winter total to over 60" of snow! I forget what the average winter snowfall is, I think something like 20 so we have been really buried since late November.
Winter fatigue has really set in and while at first everyone was so excited for the beautiful blanket of clean snow, now it's looked at with scorn and disdain with groans and moans every time people look out and see how much more shoveling we have to do! Ha!I personally love it though I do admit we just scheduled an vacation to Maui so that sort of takes one's mind off the cold.

Let me get this out of the way first: I do not suggest we photography your entire wedding or portrait session in black and white! Back in the days of film when I first started as a photographer, we had to make the choice to load black and white film or color film when we were shooting.
Often, I would carry my Mamiya 645 loaded with Fujifilm color film then a 35mm body with black and white so I could shoot the bulk of an event in color and accent it with black and white.It's certainly no secret that we now shoot everything in digital and don't have to make that decision until post processing.

You want prints and I can prove it: have you ever heard someone say "I'm so glad to look at my wedding photos on my computer!" What I do hear all the time is "ugh, I still haven't made my album" or "I have one picture from our wedding up but really need to go through them sometime." Often, those weddings were 5, 10 or even more years ago!
Last week I headed out from Bend Oregon for family portrait photography with Robert, Carolyn and their awesome Vizsla, Tuko, up in Hood River and the Columbia Gorge area. I have a special place in my heart for Vizsla's as our dog Amber was the best dog we could have ever had so I knew it was going to be a great time.

Colin is AMAZING!! He perfectly captured our Rehearsal and Wedding day. He is professional and friendly and knows exactly what pictures to take, making the day seamless. His follow-through and timeliness are outstanding! He asks enough questions beforehand so that you do not have to worry about a thing when your special day arrives. You can not go wrong by choosing Colin to shoot one of the most important days of your life. Colin will be our family photographer for years to come and I would recommend him a million times over.

We hired Colin to photograph our wedding last year. He came all the way from Bend, Oregon to Nevada City, California. Our ceremony was outdoors and it rained off and on. He managed to coordinate all of the pictures at the most perfect moments. From the pictures, we can't even tell it had rained. They are so beautiful! He did a great job of using the natural surroundings of the state park and now we have awesome pictures to always remember our special day. He is so professional and thought of everything. We know several other couples that used his services as well and they all had great experiences

Goodness, I guess I'm just "seconding" all the amazing reviews already in place! Not surprising, since Colin was so amazingly easy to work with. Great personality, easy going photographer - he managed to put myself and all my bridesmaids at ease during the pre-ceremony shots, and then found the most incredible backdrops for my husband and I to shoot against after the ceremony. It all seemed so carefree and easy - and the pictures turned out INCREDIBLE. Even more impressive, though, are the shots of the dance floor. I don't know how one goes about capturing gorgeous photos when there are limbs flailing

Colin shot my engagement and wedding photos last year and my husband and I couldn't have been happier. Colin was referred to us by my husband's sister, who also had an amazing experience. Meeting and working with him was like working with an old friend. Shooting our engagement photos felt like a silly and fun adventure that resulted in some of the most beautiful pictures. My husband and I were so happy to have found colin to do our engagement and wedding photos! Colin made us feel very comfortable and at easy with the whole process. My wife and I had Colin shoot our engagement and wedding last year. We were completely happy with our decision to go with Colin. One thing that particularly stuck out during our engagement shoot is how comfortable is was to work with Colin. My wife and I had never done a photo shoot like this before so we were a bit nervous didn't know what to expect. Colin made the whole experience enjoyable. Colin shot our wedding two years ago and I can't recommend him enough. He is extremely professional, but also just a really nice, cool guy. That made the shoots that day so much fun and such a breeze. He has a brilliant eye for unique photo opportunities and he does amazing things with lighting. I couldn't be happier with the photos we got from that day. Our photos have since even been featured on a number of wedding websites. As others here mentioned, he also does an amazing job editing the photos and putting together albums. We only mentioned one or two specific photos that we wanted in the album

Colin was our photographer for our wedding and did such an amazing job. From the moment we met him we were comfortable with him right off the bat. When we walked out of his office my husband said I want him to shoot our wedding. That was saying a lot since my husband hates getting his picture done. Colin made him feel at ease and made everything fun and easy for us. Along with him being an awesome person to work with, his photos are amazing. Colin is amazing and his work is legit. I have known him in and out of the photo world for over 10 years. He is trustworthy and has a sick eye for what rocks.
