Mickey Bolek - Michael Anthony - has been a leading hairstylist on Capitol Hill since 1996, and opened Michael Anthony Salon in 2009. From the beginning, Mickey has been winning hearts, heads, and awards with a special kind of warmth and friendliness that makes his guests feel right at home, but without a trace of doubt that they are in the hands of a highly-skilled and creative professional.
Mickey's career started over 25 years ago in Florida and moved north to Washington, DC in 1991. I didn’t want to leave a review because I didn’t want to be petty, but as I’m now in the process of looking for a new salon and relying on reviews, I thought I should. I went to this salon for almost 2 years and was generally happy with my haircuts. I absolutely loved my second to last cut. I asked my stylist to do the same thing as last time, a bit shorter, and showed her pictures. She nodded and didn’t ask any questions. She took less than 20 minutes to cut my hair. I asked for shoulder length and layers, she gave me a chin length bob with no layers. I was completely stunned to silence

Kendra is 12/10 the best color I have ever received ever. I'm not a natural blonde but have been one for about 5 years and its always perfect. I tweak it ever so slightly, and she always listens and gives me exactly what I'm looking for. I love her and would follow her anywhere. If you want the perfect color - you got to see her!

For the amount you pay, I personally didn't think this place was worth it. I got one of the most expensive stylists, Da, and thought my balayage could have been better. I showed her a photo of my hair with balayage I had gotten somewhere else asking her to match that color, and the color didn't end up matching at all. She didn't ask me questions at the beginning like how many times I had gotten balayage, and whether it was partial or full before. She just went off the picture and only started asking those questions after she saw how my hair came out and that it didn't match. She said that it didnt

I'm a guy and unfortunately I found my haircut to be very disappointing. I showed the stylist a picture (of my own hair, previously) and while he did give me an OK haircut, it wasn't exactly awesome. I tried to talk to him a bit at the end about his job and he got defensive really quickly which just kind of shut me down. For $70 for a men's fade the experience was overly expensive and not pleasant at all. Three weeks later as my hair is growing out it looks so patchy and and uneven on top. I won't be going back.

Not one to write reviews but in a time businesses are struggling I feel like stepping up to voice my really positive experience. I had a very professional, friendly and comfortable first visit and felt safe with the covid-19 precautions. Communication was superb. I want to thank Da for a fantastic haircut (I feel amazing) and what felt like a really flexible, easy going experience. Michael Anthony Salon is AMAZING! They took such great care of me for my recent appointment (and every single appointment I have had there for the last ten years+)! The online scheduling tool is so helpful to let you look at a range of dates and see what might work best for your schedule. So much better than a stressful call trying to listen to options and compare it to your schedule.
My new hair cut was a massive transformation. We took off 12 inches of length (making hair donation to a kids wig non-profit) up from the middle of my back to now just barely grazing my shoulders. Wow the curls are
