Do not let Yunus cut your hair. He does not listen at all. He just cuts your hair the way he wants(which absolutely doesnt make any sense). He cut my hair waaay shorter than I asked, and told me he likes this style better. Do yourself a favor and read the other comments. You will see others saying the same thing about him. It is a pattern!

I recently moved back to DC and have been trying out various places for hair. I need a fuss-free style that looks ok on an aging face with too many chins, but something has changed, whether it is the water or the texture of my now-graying hair. What used to be wavy and almost curly now limps and droops. After a few really terrible cuts at other places, I found Imaj. Reggie found an excellent semi-permanent color that lasts very well and looks good even as it fades over time, making the gray that is growing out blend in with the colored hair. I got my first haircut in almost 2 years here (thank you covid)! The salon was impeccably clean and they did such a great job. The cut was absolutely beautiful and they helped me make sure I was all set to send my 10 inches of hair for donation.
I also got my eyebrows done by the owner and they turned out beautifully! This Middle Eastern woman is definitely going back -- it's hard to find a place that won't make them too thin and shapes them just right.

I had a major event and needed highlights and a fabulous cut. I made the mistake of not waiting until I was back in DC and could book Recep -- then literally traveled 250 miles to have Recep, the Maestro 1) fix the terrie cut; and 2) make me look fabulous.
I literally walked out of the other place looking like a cartoon character.

I came here thanks to a gift card and unlike a lot of the other places I've been thanks to Nift, I actually do see myself coming back here. I came here for a gel manicure and they did it quickly and well. What I love about this place is how real and honest they were despite being a pretty busy salon. I got my nails done by someone who seems to be a co-owner of the place and I liked how honest she was with me about running a business. She was super friendly the whole time and I enjoyed talking to her, and she was a real professional with my nails as well. The salon is kept very clean.

Equally important, Imaj is scrupulous about pandemic safety!!! Do not worry about exposure to covid or anything else. Absolutely safe.
And, after six months, it felt MARVELOUS to finally get another first-class wash by Lupe, who is the best.
And it feels terrific to finally get my hair to look presentable! Feels like getting back to normal!

I got my haircut there yesterday by Yunis. I told the women on the phone that I was donating my hair and asked if they had done this before, they clearly had not. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and asked if he could please take 10 inches off for the donation. Luckily I managed to fix it when I got home, but it is 4.5 inches shorter than I wanted and definitely not the way it was supposed to be. I do not recommend going here if you are donating your hair.

I had a great haircut from John today. I'm thrilled with it! John really took his time and talked me through everything he was doing. I got exactly what I wanted and felt very comfortable with the whole process. On top of that, he worked me in as a walk-in on a Saturday afternoon! Also, the shampoo from Lupe was fantastic! Lupe also really took the time to give me a really relaxing shampoo and conditioning.

Extremely upset at my experience today. Instead of the slight layers I asked for, Yunis only thinned my hair out. I was a little unsure of how I felt about my hair thus far, but I decided to trust his professional abilities and judgement, and believed that he would know what to do after years of experience. I was wrong. When I asked for a simple straight blow out he decided to go and give me curls and make my hair huge to the point where I looked absolutely ridiculous. I am very unhappy with the haircut I got from John last Saturday. I had a bad haircut by another hairdresser about two months ago and came to John for a consultation. He advised me to wait a few more weeks and I scheduled a haircut for 4/13. The previous hairdresser created some layers on the right side of my head and John commented how poorly it was done and that he would fix that. This is another 5 star rating for Yunus and the whole team at Imaj salon. It doesn't matter where you live in the DMV area, his services are worth the trip. He is extremely detail oriented, kind, and very talented at what he does! If you bring a picture in, he is able to make it happen. He really is amazing at what he does.

I walked in for a trim. Walked out with a whole different color and style. soooo worth it. I had told yunus that I had been dyeing my hair w black box due(the worst kind of box dye) and he did a hair evaluation and walked me through how we could get my hair lighter. He was realistic and told me about as light as we could go without damaging my hair. He asked me if I had time and I did so we did it. It took about 3 hours and I will post before and after pics because he did such an amazing job!!! For color or cut I definitely recommend coming to this salon. Ask for yunus!

Please do yourself a favor and make an appointment somewhere else--they permanently dyed my hair instead of semi- permanently dyeing it. I went in early October to get my hair semi-permanently dyed- as in washed out within 24 washes tops. Made sure I was clear it was temporary over the phone.

Not an unpleasant experience. Got a lovely haircut for a price comparable to most other salons in the area. I usually try to bring photos as an example of the style direction I'm going for (I'm not particular about my hair as long as it's functional.) I just wish the stylist had asked me a bit more and engaged with me about my hair, so I could have had more input in the style. I ended up trimming and shaping it a bit more at home anyways. I might be back to try their brow threading, since people seem to have better luck with that here.

I used to go to a mall kiosk for threading , but at the recommendation of a friend tried this place. When Ruki met me she said that my eyebrows could really benefit from a reshaping, walked me through her vision and should could not be more right! Turns out I have been over plucking one of my eyebrows. I really appreciate her vision and her work!

My hair looked amazing! I received a great deal as a first time customer! I received a beautiful cut, color, and amazing highlights. He then took the time to even curl it after blow-drying. The shampoo girl was amazing. I laid back as she massaged my head and neck. She put my feet up and turned on the massage chair. It was nice! The atmosphere was very charming as well! And everyone was so very friendly. Great experience. Very relaxing as they even served me coffee and water. I can't wait to go back!

I've come here a few times over the last (almost) year but it was only ever for trims because I was growing my hair out for my wedding. Today I went in and finally cut some length and as usual, left feeling so much better than when I entered. Once again excellent job and I am so happy with this cut, my hair was desperately in need of something new!

After multiple bad experiences at several Drybars, realized that regular blow outs need professionals. The people at dry bars are just learning hair--and few actually know how to straighten without a flat iron or any products!
I go to Recep usually, and any of the guys at Imaj are great-- no flat iron, no product, ALL NATURAL!--- this is the difference between a professional and a student.
And same price!

Apparently there was some kind of disconnect because I asked for a few inches off and the guy took off twice the amount I asked for. If I had wanted my hair this short, I'd be happy because the stylist took his time and he did a good job blowing it out and straightening it at the end.
I'll like this cut in a couple of months when my hair reaches the length I wanted.
After reading my review, the salon called and apologized, which is definitely appreciated, but in the end my hair is still much shorter than I wanted.
