Our principle here is to perpetuate the art of Kenpo Karate with passion and integrity, in hope of changing the lives of our students in a positive way and best of all, to serve others with respect and sincerity. We teach a traditional American Kenpo Karate system that was developed by our late Grand Master William (Bill) Packer, the president of A.K.K.A. Karate USA organization.
However, as is with any other martial arts systems, ours is being refined continuously to provide the best possible training in Kenpo Karate. The U.K.K.A. (United Kenpo Karate Academy) program is specifically designed for students of all ages and fitness levels. We specialize in a child's positive character and self-esteem development.

After the occupation of the Okinawan and Ryukyu Islands by the Japanese, the secret study of the Okinawan Te was publicly allowed and a great popularization of Karate followed. Gichin Funakoshi and Knewa Mabuni (Okinawan Te Stylists) exported a form of sport karate to Japan in 1916. This was the Show Era in Japan.
Thisis a gem in the middle of the Rio Grande valley. Mr. Phan has a magical way about him and leads his students to be better people and better citizens-not just better martial artists. This school is the real deal. Give this place a try and you won't look back.
Hi All, My son Ian started lessons from UKKA at the age of 5. Thanks to some hard, awesome and caring training provided by Mr. Phan and his staff Ian is stronger physically and mentally who carries a high level of confidence.I never thought he would be educated about honesty, courtesy, respect and discipline as part of his karate lesson, what a bonus!

My 6 year old has been going here for 2 months and really enjoys it. At first he was frustrated that he didn't get to immediately fight with other kids (!), but I have been really impressed at his discipline and how it transforms to other areas of life. We have found the instructors to be kind, professional, and stern in terms of discipline which I love.

Coming from a family of martial artists and a martial artist myself of over 30 years please beware of this school. The instructors do more talking than teaching. It’s a waste of money to have your children or to take classes yourself. My nephew was there for many years only because it was a convenient location and we thought maybe the classes would get better with age and advanced belts but it remained the same. Poor quality instruction. And instead of earning your belt... it’s bought. Our last straw was my nephew being embarrassed and put down infront of the whole class by the demeaning words

Terrible school. Don’t waste your money here.. go to a real quality school. This is more of a business they want to give out belts for money rather than teaching karate and instilling the discipline and sport of it. I myself came from this school when I was younger and it changed DRAMATICALLY in a negative way.
My nephew has been going here for years and the instructors are UNPROFESSIONAL and have said degrading words about him in front of everyone...
It is a waste of your money to put yourself or your child to go here.

Easily the best experience of my life; the instructors are always supportive and fully engaged when teaching, they know what it means to pass down the art of Kenpo. The school becomes a family; you learn to defend yourself but the environment itself becomes so much more.
If you're searching for a quality martial arts school, I guarantee you'll find it here.
