The McCulla Funeral Home is Morgantown's first purpose built funeral home. Our funeral home has been family owned since it was built and first opened in 1942. Our success comes from our long history of caring for the families we serve during difficult times. At McCulla Funeral Home, we are equally comfortable planning services to be conducted within our own facilities or coordinating with area churches.

Please feel free to browse our pages to learn more about pre-planning a funeral and grief support, as well as the traditional funeral and cremation services that we have to offer. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at anytime, we are available by phone or e-mail, or drop by the office in person.
Services
Burial is the most common form of final rest and offers many options to the loved one's family. Visitation is often held and a funeral service to allow a time to reflect on the life lived; the memories made; and the legacy to carry on. Visitation is a great way to engage the healing process and begin to find ways to cope with loss, the finality of death, and be surrounded by a support system of family and friends to help along the way.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
A funeral is a ceremony for a deceased person prior to burial or cremation. A funeral gives the opportunity for family and friends of the deceased to gather and mourn the passing of their loved one, to share cherished memories and celebrate their life. A funeral is a vital first step to help the bereaved heal after the loss of someone special.
Many people plan for life events such as weddings and vacations well in advance, but many people do not plan for something that is certain to happen, their funeral. While most people do not want to think about their own mortality, the time to pre-plan your funeral is now.

The primary advantages of pre-arranging your funeral is to relieve the burden on your loved ones in an already emotional time, and to ensure your funeral is carried out according to your wishes, eliminating the task of second-guessing what you would have wanted.Taking the time now to arrange your funeral is one less thing your loved ones will need to worry about once you've passed.
These articles will help you understand something about the grief and how we can help ourselves and others through the difficult process. These articles were written by Dr Bill Webster, our Director of Grief Education, and are part of a comprehensive library available on our Grief Journey web portal.
