Richard is the ONLY mechanic I trust, I know next to nothing about cars and he will always patiently explain whats going on and why things need to be replaced. I've told him before that I was on a limited budget so he informed me what was urgent and what i could come back to get fixed. I never feel like I'm getting ripped off and he doesn't make me feel like I'm inferior.

I discovered this place when I bought a used car from a private seller who said that she has been taking the car to this mechanic. I was looking for a mechanic in the area that I can trust and lo and behold, Richard! Funny since the last mechanic down south that my husband and I frequented for a while was also named Richard. It seems all mechanics are named Richard...anyhoo, you can trust that you car is in great hands in this shop.

Loved this place! I'm from out of town and my Jeep needed help ASAP! They took me in the minute I arrived, diagnosed the problem and kept in communication with me the whole time about what they were doing and what needed to be done with my car. Susan in the office was so sweet to me and my daughter and offered her books and games while we waited. The place is clean and all the employees are so friendly! I will definitely be recommending people here!

Waited the month to get the rv into the shop, they kept it two weeks (during which time I had to pay for a hotel) finally heard from them and they said it was going to be looked at the next day - (what were they doing the last two weeks with it?) at the end of the next day they called to tell me they performed only the diagnostics I had already done at their direction and refused to do any more with it and could not provide any answers.

I work periodically in Carlsbad, but reside in Orange County. I have a trusted mechanic there, but needed a brake job and oil change while working in Carlsbad. I looked for a reputable, honest and fair-priced repair shop, and was dissatisfied with all that I found online. Until I found Mission Auto Repair in San Marcos!

This is one of the best auto repair shops that I have ever taken my car to. They are reliable, fast, and honest, which it is what I appreciate the most. Even better, they have great prices! I have taken my car here for the last 3 oil changes, and I couldn't be happier with their service. I drive 30 min just to bring my car here. Highly recommended!

They are awesome here. Fully recommend for honest mechanics at a fair price. I always dread when somethings wrong with my car because I have to ask a mechanic to tell me what's wrong, and hope they are honest and not overcharging. Not here! They tell you exactly what they think and what's the back up option, and what actually needs work and what can wait safely until next time. Fully made me feel comfortable. And their recommendation worked! No overcharge or replacement of unnecessary parts.

When we caught our old mechanic ripping us off, we had to find another place and I tried Mission Auto Repair based on the reviews. We took my wife's car in for some work and it went well. I got a good feeling about the experience. Fast forward to today, and I call them and tell them I'm pretty sure I need a new starter. Took the car in and they called me a short time later telling me the starter is fine, it was just a loose connection. They didn't charge me a dime, even though I tried to insist I pay something. Needless to say I won't be taking our cars anywhere else from now on.

Class act! Trustworthy. We have taken our Toyota 4Runner, Kia Sorento, and Mercedes motor home to Mission Auto for diagnostics and routine service. Richard is so personable and informative! I love this shop, I know ALOT of mechanics and deliver auto parts to dozens of shops in the San Marcos/Vista area. This place is better than the rest. I've had my 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe serviced and gotten new tires at mission and now I won't go anywhere else. The owner, Richard is super nice, fair, organized and knows what he's doing. The shop is one of the cleanest I've ever seen and there is a clean air conditioned waiting room for customers. Very fair, thorough and fast.

This review is a couple of weeks late but still well deserved! I took my daughter's car here for a quick check up before she was to drive out to Palm Springs without any adults with her. Richard checked us in and we came back later to pick up. Upon our return I went into the office to pay (hadn't discussed pricing prior) and they said no charge! Wait what? When call to find out what it would cost for a 90,000 service on a Toyota Camry he gave me a quote. He ask if I can leave the car and if I needed a ride back or somewhere.
