I'm an old lady (and retired AF officer), but when i wasn't, i worked on my own cars at hobby shops on base. Now, when it comes to my car, I trust John at Chapman Automotive. He has recommended repairs, patiently explained problems and told me how long i can wait before an issue becomes a problem. Also, Chapman has coupons on their website and in the mail which I use to save money.
I'm grateful to feel safe in my car!!!

John and his team have been so good to me. John saved me from getting scammed by another auto repair shop in San Diego. I believe the engine heater hose broke and another auto shop tried to quote me 9,000.00 and told me I needed to get a whole new motor. Also it would take a month and half to repair. I went to Chapman and John told me that just my hose needed to be replaced. He told me the other shop would have just prettied up my existing motor and would have sold me my own motor for 9k. Chapman replaced the hose and gave me back my vehicle the following day after I had it towed to them

Brought my GMC Dinali back here to check the balance of my tires because they previously did a balance for me . We had an appointment at 1:00pm we rushed through our lunch to make it here at 1:00 we have been sitting here for over an hour, and I go to look to see what’s going on. Come to see that all three techs are just sitting in the back talking while my car is just sitting and hasn’t been checked yet. They came in after they saw me looking at them said oh we are still checking it they where half way through there lunch when we got her at 1pm so you have a two hour lunch ? Why would you

Edit: Came in November 19 2019. Just saw this on my Yelp profile and figured I would rate my experience.
Came in for an oil change. Got a Groupon online and ended up having to pay an extra $8. Said on the Groupon it covered the oil change but apparently they still had a fee which wasn't listed. Wasn't worth my time to fight it so I accepted it. Took about an hour and a half, they were busy so I don't mind that part.
The part that is wrong is after they told me I needed new tires. They kept trying to push me to get new tires right then when I was trying to get my keys back. Saying

I brought my Toyota Corolla in for an oil change. They were very friendly when I first showed up and the service was quick. I didn't have to wait two hours for my car to be done. I will definitely be coming back. Also the price was way better than I could have expected. No more Firestone for me.

I had a brake job and alignment on my Camry. Great job and price. They also gave me their senior discount. The man at the counter was friendly and their waiting area was very comfortable and clean. I live close by so they gave me a ride home and back to pick up my car.

Everything was good on the automotive front with my Honda, but not a single employee was wearing a mask, including the cashier. If you are worried at all about Covid, I would recommend going elsewhere.

I found this business several months ago via Groupon for an oil change and was very happy first round. Today I went back in for another oil change and was just as delighted with not only the quick and efficient service on my car but also customer service. I'm so sorry I didn't catch the name of the young man at the counter who tended to me today but he was so friendly. I will continue to support Chapman's for all car necessities and recommend my fellow "neighbors" to do so as well

I came here for an oil change for my Rav4 and was pleased with the quality of service! My appt was for 215, but John let me know he had a rush of cars come in and to come back at 3. This allowed me to run a few errands with the free time. When I got back at 3, John took my car in right away and the techs started working on my car.

I was out of the door by 4! Thanks to John and the entire team! Now my car is ready for the trip to NorCal.

Was having issues with the carb in my 67 Camaro, took it to another mechanic a few times but they never solved the issue. Took it to Chapman and they ended up replacing the carb with a new one and tuned it really nicely. It's been running perfectly ever since! Friendly, professional service!

I had my car fixed once again at Chapman's Automotive on Wednesday February 19, 2020 and I was extremely happy with the results. John Chapman and his crew are friendly and my car was fixed quickly for a good price! I highly recommend Chapman's Automotive!

Outstanding full service automotive repair shop. Brought a 1973 Ford F-250 over with a list of work that went from timing chain to drum and disc brakes to carburetor and almost everything in between. John and his crew did an amazing job getting a 46 year old truck up and running for my 17 year old in record time. Prioritizing the major items from safety then to performance, they methodically went down the long list ensuring I was informed each step of the way.

Frankly, I lost faith in mechanics years ago. I had decided that I was going to work on my cars and that was that. Unfortunately that was a lofty goal, and frankly unattainable with the demands of maintenance that comes with having multiple vehicles. My husband and I had to have some repairs done on our KIA Optima. John at (Chapman's Automotive) was very helpful, very professional and the repairs were completed in a timely manner. We will most certainly use Chapman's in the future if other repairs are needed and if the cost is reasonable and within out budget.

My first time here and they got the job done. I was searching on Groupon for a good priced oil change deal and found Chapman's on there but saw on the reviews that they have better deals on their website. I decided to go that route and I called to make an appointment and was able to get in the next day! They are efficient and very knowledgeable about repairs etc. They have a large lobby that is nice and cool with A/C and free coffee. I would definitely go back again for other repairs and oil changes! Try them out if you are in San Marcos!

Very unprofessional people. How they interact with you and talk to you tells you about the business. I told them I couldn't make an appointment and after one lady saying I can come tomorrow. John gets on the phone and says you have to come now and I don't feel comfortable scheduling an appointment for you for tomorrow. Then says I can't guarantee anything now, you will just have to wait. Love this place. I brought my Toyota in for an oil change , and was helped by the owner. I'm always hesitant to take my car places due to my experiences I have had previously. Chapman's was great, it's a small family owned business and you can tell they really care about their customers here. It's not some huge corporate place trying to get people in and out and collect a check. My roommates both bring their cars in here now and have both had fabulous experiences as well . I have definitely found my new go to auto shop!

John and his team are top notch. I took my '14 Ford Fusion in with a laundry list of needed repairs as a result of a joyride (not by me...). Not only did John personally walk me through the insurance process, he gave constant updates on the status and was impressively honest and transparent throughout.

When I picked up my car, the pride on his face and that of his team was easy to see. I purchased this car used, 1-year old. It now looks and drives better than it did when I bought it.

Great service! We took my wife's car for an oil change off Groupon and now she keeps going to Chapman's for her oil changes etc..

Today I took my car there today, it was also a Groupon.. Side note., they even rotated my tires (I actually said that they didn't have to as I have free rotation with the tires that I had previously purchased with a big tire company) but John (the owner) said, they already did it.. no charge.. that's a class act in my book.. going above the normal service.. good business practice..

Since John has a taken over making it Chapman automotive the service and quality are still top notch. Not only does he take care of my tire needs he also helps me with auto maintenance. Always a pleasure visiting here, five stars !!
