Unfortunately it's buyer beware...especially if you know very little about cars...I found this place recommended by my tow truck guy Kevin who said they were reasonably priced my car overheated and I thought better to have it towed.....my daughter's car was at the shop and they did a diagnostic evaluation on what was needed. .a full write up ..fortunately I am a novice mechanic and I thought maybe a thermostat issue or water pump..they told me it was a blown head gasket and maybe radiator also..about $4000.. I asked about options for the car and he mentioned maybe you can sell it since it's not

Tony and the crew here are amazing. They got my early Bronco in the shop in a timely manner. They looked over everything and gave me several options of work that they would recommend and perform. My wife was driving our Hyundai Sante Fe when the turbo oil line burst. I called several shops all of who said they'd call back with a quote, but the team at Coastal Car Care were the only ones who followed through and were professional from the first call. We had the car towed in, they evaluated, provided very fair updated quote, and completed the work within a day. They never once tried upselling any other services or repairs. They are very professional, quick, honest and above all very nice. I had a brake light not working and reached out to them. They explained what they'd do and how to drop off my car so that I wouldn't have to touch anything. It was all touchless and I got my car back quickly. Our brakes went out while vacationing in California and we still had a 10 hour drive back home, but Coastal Car Care started working on our vehicle right away to get us home! I feel extremely fortunate to find a place like Coastal Car Car in Carlsbad that specializes in servicing classic cars like my 1968 GTO. My vehicle needed a lot of work done and the staff did a great job explaining everything and pointing out exactly what was going to be repaired or replaced. Tony the service manager does an excellent job keeping me informed throughout the repair process of the timeframe required and all the repair options available. Our first time taking our van here for 100,000 mile servicing. Honda quoted us approx. 3,000 for a complete servicing. Who has 3,000 dollars laying around to drop on a car servicing? Called Coastal Care Care and spoke to a lady who was extremely nice over the phone (forgot her name). Tony and the folks at Coastal Car Care recently serviced our 2005 Honda Odyssey (133k mi, generally very good condition), and while there were many other defects present than what we specifically took it in to have addressed, Tony was very thorough in describing levels of urgency (i.e. must do, should do, can wait) and projecting cost estimates. This place is amazing! So my car is a hot mess (long story short), and this wonderful mom and pop shop helped me so much with my repairs. Granted, we are just getting started but I'm very hopeful! Let me start by saying this review is based on price only. My mother went in for a basic oil change since I couldn't find the time. Just walked in, no appointment. She was taken care of and the oil change completed in a reasonable time. They checked the car over and topped off fluids, checked tire pressure and did all the standard checks. Now please understand they don't do this out of the kindness of their hearts. They do it to identify issues with your car and then try to sell those services to you. This works out for both parties. My mother had sticker shock when the bill came. $53

Since my recent move to the area, I've been dreading finding a garage I could trust to do honest, quality work on my car- especially as a female who knows very little about cars. I found Coastal Car Care and this is probably the only place I'll take my car to from now on!! Tony and the rest of the staff were so kind, reassuring, and did excellent work. I came in at 8AM for an oil change and they were done by 8:30. They did a full inspection of the car and had some recommendations for future work but I didn't feel like they were pressuring me or upselling their services. The price
