Just like the variations in culture and traditions the food at our Indian restaurant is also very diverse. The common thread that runs through all the states is the Indian food. We will be glad to cater to your special events and group meetings, luncheons and parties on site or off site. You can enjoy and relax with our special bar menu that serves a wide variety of liquor, wines, beers and brews.
During the busy summer months customers can sit outside on our patio and we will offer a special summer menu, exotic drinks, as well as non-alcoholic options. One country, more than forty languages and roughly 1,600 dialects! India is diverse to say the least and its languages are just one aspect of this diversity.

I have been eating here in recent months a lot.
Actually, I find it a superb alternative to sashimi for both dieting and flavor.
The mixed tandoor grill has the most intense flavors of all of the Indian and Pakistani restaurants that I have eaten at in the capital region (probably all of them) and after the first dozen or so times, we removed the lamb kebob and lamb chops and asked to add chicken kebobs. All protein, almost no fat and tons of taste.
So, it comes with rice, a tomato/cream based side sauce (marsala?) and garlic naan.
No, I haven't been eating the naan or the rice

We recently ordered delivery from Nirvana and it was very good. The chicken Tiki Masala came with lots of sauce (so we had leftovers to put on our Thanksgiving leftover turkey too) and the tandoori shrimp was fresh and delicious. I have eaten here many times in the past and the food has always been tasty, but was able to re-assess it after ordering delivery during the pandemic and now (11.2021) -- I look forward to continuing to order from this restaurant or eating at the restaurant itself.

I ordered take out the food was uncooked tandoori chicken was raw chicken was bleeding and rice was undercooked. Biryani wasn't the Biryani was so sweet like they used sugar in to rice. That was a horrible food and never expected to be like this at all. It's a shame for indian food I would never go there anymore . Like people said first impression is the last impressions. I will not suggest to anyone to go there. I feel like I wasted my time and money.

Nirvana, is the Best Indian restaurant in the Capital region! The food is excellent, the service is friendly and efficient and me and my daughter have been there many times since it first opened!
The white plates they serve the food on are very elegant and the general ambiance is very comfortable. There is a lot of room at the tables, and everything is spotlessly clean, and the staff never rush you!
I come from England where Indian restaurants have always been very popular and plentiful, and I would rank this restaurant as being one of the best I have ever been too!
I am baffled by the review

We were a very large party so we were glad that they were able to handle us! The service was excellent and the food matched it as well! We had a variety of foods from samosas to chicken and various naans. They do close at 9 pm during the week so just be aware of this closing time. The owner was very nice as well so I say give it a try!

It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten at ANY restaurant, so I’m enjoying takeout and Nirvana does not disappoint! Plenty of milder dishes for me alongside a huge selection of everything savory and absolutely delicious! They deliver within a five mile radius too! Lastly, the staff is very nice so I feel really good about supporting this restaurant. The ambiance could be better, but if you’re with good friends and family who cares?!

Wish I'd been introduced to this place before! Its a little out of my normal circle of travel but absolutely worth a visit. I had my usual Malai kofta (seems a good baseline to judge a restaurant by). The sauce was rich and flavorful, the kofta still had a little crunch from the fryer. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Can't ask for much more than that. 😉

Fantastic food in an ugly restaurant.
Yeah this place is ugly. Blue tape left on the windows from when they last painted, ugly textured walls, old stained carpet, limited uninspiring decor. But the booth benches and table were newer and clean so it didn't feel unclean, just ugly.
The food was really excellent I had a huge Masala Dosa which had perfectly crispy "crepe" and delicious filling. The Lamb Rogan Josh was just fantastic. Really good. I'm still dreaming about it. The Kashmiri lamb chops were served on a sizzle plate and were great. The rice and sauce were excellent

Upfront I want to say that, in general, I am not a big fan of Indian food. That being said I decided to give Nirvana a shot (thru GrubHub). Although I am not very adventurous with this cuisine I have to say that their Samosa is terrific. Their chicken Biryani is very flavorful - nicely spiced. The basmati rice is always moist and flavorful and the Naan is also very nice. The Kadai chicken smells and tastes really good - but is a bit on the spicy side for me - that is not at all meant to detract from how good the dish is.
They always deliver earlier than they initially project and the drivers

Review for lunch buffet only (which is all there is at lunch).
The buffet was quite decent, although we prefer a spicier level, there was a little something for everyone. The tandoori was a little tough but otherwise everything prepared quite well. The fresh naan served to the table was fantastic, and it was a great no fuss lunch experience. Will return!

Ok, the more I eat here, the better it gets. This is now my favorite Indian buffet in town. Although this place is not as fancy as others, the level of service and quality of the food takes this one up a star from my previous review.
The chicken curry had so many hints of star anise and made this dish delicious.
The goat curry and goat biryani at this place are probably my favorite dishes.
Ok, the naan. It is really soft while crisp and buttery.
Star dessert of the Capital Region - Ras malai
Get to know it. Hints of cardamom, rose water, and sweet milky goodness. Think of ras malai

Yessss my top Faves:
lamb vindaloo - tender pieces of lamb moist spiced sauce
tandoori chicken - wow so moist flavorful smokiness that is prob the best we've had even from Jackson Heights. It's prob due to the fact that they have a tandoori clay oven in their kitchen
chicken tikka - good whole pieces of chicken breast sweet tomato flavor
and my fave dessert Rasmalai - cottage type cheese in sweet milk with pistachios!
However, all the dishes are filled with delicious-spices and flavors, from sweet to bitter to spicy to salty to umami or a balance between them all.

Nirvana was a must-do on my recent trip to Schenectady. We are having a family function there in June, and needed to make sure the place was good. It is more than good for the purposes of our family get-together, and more than good for the purposes of dinner.
Our table of 7 was seated almost immediately. Our waiter came by and took our drink orders. We asked him for his recommendations on appetizers. He suggested a few different things, all of which were amazing. We also ordered paneer makhani, chicken tikka, and a spicy lamb dish, tandoori chicken, and enough naan to feed a small army.

I had a hankering for curry since it had been awhile and Nirvana did not disappoint! By far the best curry in the Captain District. Party of four shared appetizers of vegetables samosas and chaat and our entrees of lamb tandoori, mushroom mutter and chicken biryani, and everything was amazing. I
Lots of food and well priced. I'm planning to visit again during the week to try their buffet.

Came here on Sunday around 1pm and had no trouble getting a table. There were a few other parties here (a family and two other couples).
We went for the weekend buffet lunch, which went until 3pm. I think it was $14 or $15/person? Completely worth it.
A dosa dish and hot, freshly made naan were placed on our table when we sat down. There were plenty of condiments (chutneys, yogurts, other sauces) available on the buffet table. The fully stocked buffet food options included: mulligatawny soup, maybe 10-12 hot dishes in the buffet tray section (plain rice, basmati rice, saag paneer, manchurian

One of my college friends was turning 30 and decided to host a small party with friends and family here at Nirvana. She lives in the Capital Region and says this is one of her favorite places to go. I enjoy Indian cuisine, so I was excited to catch up with friends and see what Nirvana offered.
Nirvana has simple decor; the outside is unassuming and the inside has a clean aesthetic with hints of dark red and yellows which add a splash of color. We were seated in a private room and with the food being served buffet style. We were started with two apps: samosa chaat and gobi bazule. The samosa chaat
