Martel's Grill & Bar
Since 1994, Martel's Restaurant at Capital Hills has been a family owned and operated restaurant. People come from all over to enjoy our menu that offers juicy burgers, fresh salads, thick crust pizza and delicious entrees. You will find that our friendly, attentive staff and our scenic views overlooking the 9th and 18th hole add to your experience and make any occasion a memorable occasion at Martel's.

Opened in the spring of 2014, we have completely remodeled the restaurant to bring you a fresh new look with an open-air bar and dining atmosphere. Dark Mahogany colored woods, thick oak bar and hi top tables in the lounge create a friendly, relaxed place to enjoy your choice of 14 draught beers from the standard domestics to the most popular craft beers being made today.
Services
Fresh greens, grilled or crispy chicken, orange segments, pecans, croutons, jack & cheddar, honey mustard. Breaded white fish, New England style roll, coleslaw, French Fries and cocktail or tartar sauce. Our fresh, char-grilled half pound burgers are grilled to order then handcrafted with fresh toppings and served with French fries.

The food is good, generous portion, the service is good, very friendly and nice. And on top of that they make one of the best burgers in the area! If you request medium rare, it's real medium rare you know what I mean. I like their big menu that gives you so many choices especially I like they have many variety side dishes.

Disappointing
Went for Sunday night dinner with family I hadn't see in a while because of Covid.
The good things were the waitstaff ( one server on duty who was pleasant and took accurate orders despite having a lot of people to wait on) The other good thing was a beautifully fresh side salad.
Other than that --the food was awful.
The steak sandwich had no meat taste but was strongly flavored with something that tasted like vinegar. The vegetables were a watery mess, tough, microwaved, tasteless.
One of our party described what had happened to the vegetables as "criminal."

A place to warm up and grab a tasty meal! Enjoyed dinner to-go, but wish I stayed! Ample space.

Even with COVID-19 restrictions in place, Martel's still delivers. The food is exceptional, love the blue cheese fries. The only downside is their normally well stocked beer selection is only about half filled. Hopefully that changes soon.

I gotta tell ya. The proprietor, Jim Martel, is the most obnoxious, self righteous, and rude person I have ever met. Had 2 beers twice at his bar and witnessed the most condescending tirade of any person who is supposed to handle customer service in a professional manner. I gave it a pass the first time and was shocked to witness it twice. No class, no skills. I have a long career servicing customers large and small and have have never witnessed such poor skills. Rest assured, I am not ever spend a dime there again.

Ordered food for pick up. Chicken franchese with extra sauce. They gave us a very small sauce on the side but no sauce on the actual dish. My extra sauce request turned into less than normal sauce.
Ordered the beer cheese pretzels. NO beer cheese!
Very disappointed. Food was ok despite the fails but still very aggravated. The place was empty too, no one at the bar and only 2 tables occupied.

My sister through my bridal shower here and it was absolutely fabulous. My guests loved the ambiance. We loved how amazing Jim was to deal with. He helped us all throughout the day. The staff were so sweet and helpful. The restaurant is super clean. My shower looked beautiful. Will definitely recommend and be back for lunch or dinner!!

First visit there. We'd been to Martel's in Albany many times but never to the Colonie location. We arrived at 6:00 PM on a summer Friday night and sat on the outdoor covered patio. Beautiful night and pleasant surroundings. The friendly manager greeted us and made us feel at home. Our waitress was also friendly and helpful. Sandwiches and salads were very good! We were meeting a large group for a get-together and to hear "Joe's Boys", a band that I've wanted to hear for a long time. "Joe's Boys" is a very talented group, BUT they are WAY TOO LOUD. We were a group of 12. One guy was smart enough

First time ordering Martells and unfortunately also the last. The menu was super diverse and I was excited to try it out, ended up splurging for a pricier sandwich- the French dip.

I didn't come in with crazy high hopes, but was still shocked at the quality of my meal. My sandwich was completely flavorless, not even a grain of salt on the whole plate, and the au jus to dip was light as chicken broth and tasted like water. Ended up tossing the whole sandwich and supermarket pickle immediately, really wished I saved the $20 and bothered to make my own.

Martel's (not "Martels") is a fairly standard American/Italian-American/pub/tavern. And of course, they are but one of many in the Greater Albany area. That's not necessarily a negative. I'm sure Martel's is beloved by its regulars and locals, and that's why we came. One in our party lives nearby and has been coming to Martel's for quite some time. They brought us there for a birthday celebration.

As it is, the food is tasty but relatively mediocre. Our pasta dishes were fine, we ate most of it and left full. My only complaint is the pasta

We visited on a weeknight for trivia. The server was not very friendly. The pizza was very doughy and undercooked in a few spots. The toppings were very skimpy. Our companion ordered a salad and the lettuce was brown. We probably will not go back.

Went here on a Friday evening, party of 4. Got right in, server very friendly, had live music which was a nice surprise... Food was good too. Never been before, but I would definitely return here. Bar seemed busier than the restaurant. They had Happy Hour specials from 3-6 although I'm not sure what they consisted of.

There used to be one or two items that were good and now one of those is off the menu.

Tried "chicken francaise" recently and actually couldn't finish it - that's how terrible it was! The "mashed potatoes" were dreadful, probably boxed, but made badly. The chicken was frozen planks and the gravy was salty and had too much garlic.

Never again.

I don't know what the fuss is about Martels! I've dined here twice. The first was on a week night for pizza and beers. The pizza was tasty and the beers were okay - maybe needed a bit more carbonation from the tap.

We came for brunch most recently and I was most disappointed. My husband ordered OJ and I was planning to order a mimosa. When his OJ arrived I tasted it and it was absolutely disgusting. Sour. Bad. He thought it was from a machine so he asked for water and didn't order more. I was so grossed out that I didn't want a mimosa at that point so I stuck with my coffee

My mom had her 60th bday party here the other night - it was awesome! We started out on the outside patio over-looking the 9th hole of the golf course, and after an hour the party moved back into the tent area. Everything was outstanding: great bartender making delicious drinks, amazing food, cool atmosphere, top notch service, and an all around fun time! I would highly recommend Martels to anyone... It's a great spot to throw an event/party!!

Sunday breakfast is excellent -- and a great value. The breakfast menu is varied and creative. We had one of the fritattas and one of the house specials. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned.

We'll definitely be back for Sunday breakfast. And we look forward to trying the Saturday night prime rib special.

My wife and I patronized Martel's this morning for breakfast. Fairly decent breakfast menu. My wife had the Breakfast Burrito and I had the Duffer's Duo.

Everything was cooked to perfection and served nice n hot. Service was excellent. Family run place, very friendly and made you feel at home. We'll be going back to check out Martel's for lunch.

Not sure how this place has held on. My meals were always comically bad (tater tots for home fries, no toast at breakfast) and we used to see the owner buying beer in bjs wholesale. Distributor Beer guy prolly loved that!

Also, they made a mess of that clubhouse with an ugly plastic tent blocking the view and an ugly sign out on new Scotland.

Franchise with a captive audience I guess.
