Dr. Eckel graduated with a Bachelor Degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry in Memphis.

Receiving oral exams and dental x-rays on a regular basis is the best way to catch problems early on while they are still easily manageable. Dental issues such as cavities and gingivitis are very common and easily treatable initially with fillings or standard cleaning. However if these problems are left unchecked until symptoms arise then the damage may be too great to repair with simple procedures.
After the tooth is numb from local anesthetic all tooth decay and existing restorations are removed. If there is an insufficient amount of remaining tooth structure to retain the crown a buildup will be necessary. A buildup is made by bonding composite resin to the tooth, sometimes with pins or posts to add to the retention.
Green Hills Smiles is an in-network provider for all major dental insurance plans. Our receptionist can confirm that we accept your insurance at the time that you schedule your New Patient appointment. Your insurance company sets the rate that we charge; some procedures incur an additional lab fee which is not included in their rate.

I have been with Green Hills Smiles for almost 5 years. When I moved to Nashville I blindly chose a dentist near where I lived and after my first visit with that particular dentist I was told that I had 5 cavities that needed filling and that office was really pushy on wanting to get me in for these. I have only ever had 1 cavity filling in my life and stay up to date on my cleanings and brush daily, etc. so when I was told that I needed 5 fillings I was appalled and definitely wanted a second opinion.

Absolutely wonderful. Dr Eckel is a fantastic dentist. He will tell you all you need to know and patch you up in no time.
I previously visited a dentist before him who racked up quite the bill and treatment. Dr Eckel said none of it was necessary and I still have my tooth

I almost don’t want to write this review so I can keep them all to myself, but Dr. Eckel and his team are great. I’ve been seeing them for several years now and they are always friendly, quick, and very good at their jobs. Dr. Eckel never pushes you to have unnecessary or extra work done, but when you do need something it is executed with top quality. He has even fixed some of the lousy work done by some other local dentists 👀. I will be coming back for as long as I live here in Nashville!

Such a fabulous practice! Everyone from the front desk staff to the hygienist to Dr. Eckel were completely wonderful, knowledgeable, thorough and kind. The hygienist was so gentle, I barely realized I was at the dentist. They are very transparent and upfront with costs. I have been to several dentists that are quick to overcharge or prescribe unneeded services. This is not that practice. They are very cautious in their estimates and let you know what you will be paying before the service is rendered. It is also immaculately clean. I HIGHLY recommend them.

This was my second appointment at Green Hills Smiles and I am so happy I decided to make this my neighborhood dentist office! Everyone is so friendly, organized, and the office is incredibly clean. I love that they text you for reminders (and text back when you are trying to schedule an appointment! So convenient)

Super clean dental space. Staff is so friendly and calming if you have dental anxiety like me. They are tedious yet gentle. They also have the latest tools in dental technology. They are open and honest about finances; they don’t try to scam you. The check in process and appointment reminders are great and professional.
