The Chinese Embassy and SANY America Inc refer Chinese businessmen and visiting dignitaries to AsukiSQ Hair Salon, and we also serve as the official stylist to the Miss Asia American Beauty Pageant.

Policies are subject to change without notice. If you have questions about pricing, we encourage all our guests to ask their stylist for a price quote prior to your service. An in-salon consultation is required to give you an accurate quote, specific to your hair. All pricing is based on a variety of factors, including time, product used, and amount of hair.
We understand that sometimes customers need to cancel an appointment. Please be courteous and contact us promptly if you are unable to attend your appointment. We request that you give us at least 24 hours notice. Available appointments are in high demand and your early cancellation notice will give another customer the opportunity to make use of your allotted time.

Oscar was great and super professional! I can tell he really knows what he's doing. I came in to get a few inches off and he delivered! He was very accommodating when I needed to move my appointment. I also felt very safe because I was the only customer. It was $65 for haircut, blowout, and styling, which I think is a good value.

I was very happy to find Oscar and get a haircut from him. No one has ever understood my hair (thick Asian hair) quite like him and I had a fantastic experience. Very quick but still thorough, and exactly the look I wanted while also making my hair more manageable for the winter. The price was also very affordable. Thank you Oscar and see you soon!

It was my first visit with a new stylist in over 10 years. I had a consultation with Oscar first before coming back for a cut and color. I hadn't touched my hair since March and I had a lot of gray and it had grown below my breasts. Oscar understood what I was looking for - low maintenance hair, going back to my natural color with both highlights and lowlights. He was very meticulous and thorough and I was very happy with both the cut and color. Highly recommend, especially for Asian hair.

I am embarrassed to have taken so long to write a review. After a month post receiving my second shot, I went in last May and had my hair cut professionally for the first time in over a year. While my husband was doing a decent job during the pandemic, neither of us felt comfortable with him trying to layer or thin my hair, so to say that it needed help, is an understatement.
I am Asian and didn't have time to travel out to Annandale for a cut, so I gave AsukiSQ a shot.
Oscar was wonderful! He and his employee had both been vaccinated, but wore masks anyway, so I felt very comfortable.

Pleasant visit. I called a bit after 5 to check if they'd receive walk-ins or appointments. They were to close soon when I looked up their hours, but said they could take me asap and luckily I was around the corner. I was the only customer there at the time so good timing for me. The guy who cut my hair was great explaining my hair type and recommendations. Will definitely come back for another haircut!

My question was “Do you accept walk-ins” and if so how long am I going to wait? I did not ask how long he would do it for me! Thank you for mentioning about our current situation, the pandemic. Recently tried this salon for the first time and got a great digital perm. I usually get these done at a Japanese salon in New York while visiting family there each year, but was not able to travel this year due to pandemic so was looking for a local alternative. I was a bit nervous about finding some place that would be as reliable with Asian hair in a more secondary market like DC... however, AsukiSQ 100% delivered! Please do yourself a favor, don't go here!!! The hairstylist was so rude!!! I just ask a simple question if they accept walk-ins. He responded yes but he lectured me that he will not compromise his job to accommodate me. I politely ask what time am I suppose to go back then? He continued with his lecture about "walk-ins" blah blah blah.

Prior to moving to DC, I had been going to the same hairstylist for the past 12 years. However, given the pandemic, I can no longer make the excuse to go home to see her, so I've had the unfortunate need to find someone here in DC. I will admit that I get pretty nervous about finding someone who has experience with Asian/brunette hair, so I've been putting it off for, clearly, years despite multiple moves.
AsukiSQ is not the most fancy salon experience, but Oscar clearly has lots of experience. It was pretty quick and efficient, and for $60, you might expect a little more from the time

The owner is very efficient and finished my haircut within 30 minutes. You can tell he knows what he's doing. This is the place you should come if you want to get a quick and quality haircut. However, if you are also looking for good ambiance and a soothing haircut experience, you should probably look elsewhere.

I've lived in DC for 6 years and haven't been able to find someone who has really razzle dazzled me when it came to cutting my hair. I was looking for someone who was knowledgable in Asian hair and made me feel confident in my cut after the drape was removed. Oscar did just that and more.

THE. BEST. SALON. I've been here 2x now, spaced out over a period of just over a year. My hair has NEVER looked better. Oscar does amazing hair!! It's truly a work of art. I specifically was looking for an Asian stylist/someone who worked frequently with Asian hair, and he is THE BEST. He's probably under priced (but still not "cheap"), the material he uses keeps my hair fresh/non split ends. I love it. I am really missing his hair techniques during this quarantine!! I LOVE this place.

Oscar is not only an incredible hair stylist, but also patient, accommodating, and talented! I would probably liken him to a magician. I came to his salon after making a last minute appointment, and he was able to not only fit me in, but also indulged in my drastic request: to die raven dark hair to a beach blonde! Instead of chastising me like other hair stylists, Oscar was able to work his magic, and I ended up with a dye and a haircut that turns heads! Hairstylist aside, Oscar's story as a hardworking immigrant keeps him humble--a hard trait to find in DC.

I called ahead on a Sunday and the owner (I presume) told me to come in any time as they weren't busy. I arrive maybe 15 minutes later and there are at least four people ahead of me, some who had been waiting close to an hour. He knew they were busy and he lied. OH, and there was only 1 woman cutting hair.
Upon arriving, a woman was just sitting down after a wash, and they attempted to pick up scissors from a giant pile of gross hair to use on her. She was appalled and asked why they weren't sanitizing the tools. They scrambled and couldn't give a reason or produce any barbecide

Oscar is a magician. I look like a brand new person after getting my hair cut! I had a grown out mid-long brown balayage that I was getting tired of, and I came out of the salon with a cute lob that felt fresh and soft! Like others have said, Oscar, the owner was very thorough and experienced, and made sure that my haircut was perfect before letting me go.
The experience was well worth the $50 cut/wash/blowout, and I'm looking forward to coming back!

I've never got any hair coloring before. And it turns out great.
Also, Oscar is so cool and, believe me, guys, he knows what he is doing. He told me that he has been doing hair styling for almost 21 yrs.
I just love him lollll.
Highly RECOMMENDED (especially Asian girls) Definitely will come back again!
