Choosing a school is a pain. Especially when it's the first one you're ever choosing for your kid. We (my wife and I) could not be happier with having chosen Families Together. The teachers and staff are absolutely fantastic. The school can seem a little odd at first because of the space--at the current location there is a large room divided into two classrooms and we were worried that the noise from one class might be distracting for the other, but that is not the case at all in practice. The school is great because, being a co-op, there is an extremely strong sense of community

Our daughter is in the "Young 3's" class this year and it has been a lot of fun watching her grow through her experience at FTCNS. Going in, she was already pretty verbal and outgoing in the right environment, and that has only continued to blossom as we've watched her grow socially. She's able to interact pleasantly with other kids and talk and play with them, not just alongside them, which is definitely an influence of the school. And bonus that she clears her place from the table at home now because the kids have to do that for snack time. :)

FTCNS is a co-op, so we

Families Together is a really special place. It offers so much--an incredible, thoughtful early childhood education; the opportunity for parents to be active participants in that education; and a really caring, generous community of families--all of which will follow our family long beyond the years we actually spend at Families Together. Both of our daughters have thrived at FTCNS--intellectually, socially, emotionally--and we have been thrilled to witness their education first-hand as assisting parents and to have had the chance to learn from watching their incredible teachers in action. My daughter is in her second year at Families Together; it's only February and I'm already melancholy for when this amazing time must come to an end.
The search for a preschool is not an easy one. Full day, half day? How much can we afford? What is our ultimate goal, as far as curriculum? I zeroed in on the co-op, play-based model at Families Together. I loved the idea of helping out in the classroom and meeting families that shared the same focus as ours.
My daughter was an outgoing, confident child going in, so I wasn't too worried about how she'd acclimate away from mom

We sent both of our kids to FTCNS for 2 years and we all loved it! The teachers are so wonderful and caring and their approach to teaching the whole child is very effective. Because it's a co-op, you have to love spending time in the classroom, which was a gift for our family. It was a great fit for us!

We are going into our second year at Families Together and we couldn't be happier! The teachers really get to know each child and work with them where they're at. They helped my daughter become more self-assured and advocate for herself more easily. Though she only did 1 year of preschool, she is ready (and very excited!) to start Kindergarten at our neighborhood CPS school. The play-based, emergent curriculum was eye-opening, but the best part was getting to volunteer in the classroom. It's so neat to see kids playing and interacting in a way different from (but complimentary to

We had a terrific two years at FTCNS and although we graduated a year ago, I don't think a day does by that I don't think of it and miss it. My son thrived so much under the love and care of the teachers there. The self-directed learning and play-based center was a delight and his first introduction to school was such an enjoyable one. The emergent curriculum meant that there were weeks that theme was anything from spaghetti and meatballs to space, but is is amazing how much art, music, math, reading and writing, that manages to creep into those themes!

As a co-op, parents involvement

Families Together is more than just a school. . . It is a vibrant learning community. The teachers at Families Together are experts at creating a dynamic learning environment while also nurturing social skills, friendships and character qualities like kindness and respect. The school is a cooperative nursery school which means that the parent base is not only supportive, but actively engaged in classroom activities and committees that bolster the school's mission. Administrative communication is friendly, open and clear. We really appreciate the sliding-scale tuition and lottery-based enrollment
