Milwaukie Preschool

Our students pick up valuable social and educational skills and have fun doing it! Milwaukie Preschool provides an atmosphere in which each child enhances their self-esteem, learns to be respectful of others, and is free to explore, in as many ways as possible, the world around them. Our children learn to accept guidance from adults other than their parents.

Our main focus for the 3-4's class is free play. During this age, children experience a lot of growth in social development. A lot of the time, this class is the first exposure to a class setting and interacting with multiple children. Children will also learn gross and fine motor skills during this time.

Our pre-k class is designed for 4 year-olds who will be entering kindergarten the following year. In this class, we aim to give them the skills the will help them to succeed in kindergarten. As these students have already learned the procedures and motor skills from the previous year, they are able to grow in their development in other areas.

Educating children since 1968, Milwaukie Preschool serves a vital function in our community. Our parent leaders are the stewards of that tradition. I am known as Miss Jennica to my students. I was born and raised in Maui, HI, a place that fostered within me a sense of wonder in the world from a very early age. In many ways this environment lead to my decision to become a teacher, as watching children expand their knowledge, even in the most simple of ways, is so fulfilling to me.
