Dr. Melda Gjokaj Medical Director Dr. Melda Gjokaj has joined the Hoboken Vets team as our Medical Director. She has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2005. Dr. Gjokaj completed her rotating internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists. After completing her internship, she continued her work in emergency medicine at AERA but then found her passion in general practice.
Dentistry By the age of three, the majority of dogs and cats exhibit signs of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is (silently) painful, causes deterioration to the supporting structures of the tooth, and even worse - can spread harmful bacteria throughout your pet's blood stream, potentially harming vital organs.
We've all experienced the heartbreak of seeing sick pets in need, and that heartbreak is amplified when financial constraints become the limiting factor to those pets receiving essential care. Recognizing this as a recurrent hardship for pet owners, we're pleased to announce our partnership with the Tri-State Veterinary Care Foundation.

Brought our puppy in for our first visit and were so happy with Hoboken Vets. They gave us a rundown of important breed-specific issues to keep an eye on, dietary & supplement recommendations, followed up the day after to make sure the vaccinations they administered were reacting fine, and made the entire process as easy and painless as possible. Couldn't ask for a better vet!

We love the Hoboken Animal Clinic. The staff are always incredibly friendly and professional. They are also very accommodating when calling for their advice about what might be an emergency situation for your pet. I've been to other clinics that price gouge and I never feel like that's the case with the Animal Clinic. They genuinely care about your pet.

I took my cat to Hoboken Vets for wellness check and also vaccines. It's easy to make appointments and everybody there is very nice and kind to each pet. This is my first time having cat and they explain to me about how to take care of my cat better and what those vaccines are for.

Not accredited by the BBB so can’t file a complaint for their lack of care, communication and professionalism. The girls at the front desk sit Two feet apart and can’t seem to stay on the same page (there goes social distancing) and the office manager is absolutely disgusting and should be fired. That is all.

It's a nice place, and the people are very nice. 2 issues though - 1, it's probably more expensive than other places. 2, can be hard to get an appointment at times if you really need it. Or they will charge you an emergency fee which is obnoxious. That being said, it's one of the only shows in town so you might be stuck with them as they are very convenient, unless you drive somewhere.

Very organized facility however you’ll be spending more out of pocket then you need to be on testing/specialists and procedures that are said to be “crucial” just to get more $$ out of you. Spent WAY too much money here with absolutely no answers each visit. You want a place that cares more about the animal and your financial comfort level than making a huge profit. I did not get that here.

I would be surprised if this clinic even has any sort of certification. I'm certain all their positive reviews are forged or extremely old.
Please do not be fooled like I was with the 4+ star rating this place has. They do not know what they are doing and offer no help. You are absolutely better off going to another vet.
I have yet to find a vet clinic worse than this. The vet had absolutely no idea what my cat had, and still prescribed random medicine. When I got a hold of his medical records from them, I saw they forged random symptoms that my pet did not have. I had even confirmed with them

Took my new rescue pup here for his first wellness visit yesterday and had a great visit from start to finish. Dr. Friedman and the vet tech were so great at addressing my questions while checking him out with patience and top notch care. Franklin did not want to leave at the end- he dragged me back inside as we were waiting for the car!
Today I received a text message follow up to see how he is. We also got a call to follow up on his fecal test and they explained everything so thoroughly.
We are happy new patients. Would highly recommend.

They are not caring. I'm a new client. When I booked the appointment, the first thing they asked was if I have time to listen to their endless no show policy. I have to pay $85 if I miss my appointment and if I'm late for 10 minutes they will keep the $85. If I cancel in one day they will charge a part of the fee. They did not ask anything about what happened to the dog till the very end of the conversation. It's all about fee fee fee fee fee.
I paid since my dog really needs to see a vet. The thing upsets me the most is that they just called me in the same day cancelling my appointment

First visit to Hoboken Vets and I was very impressed. State of the art facility. An hour of face-to-face time with the veterinarian while all exams were conducted. Never rushed. Nothing left out. Will continue to use their services moving forward.

When Dr Spencer was here I did not have any complaints. After she left this place has been a mess. I took my dog to get checked for a possible UTI, which has been an issue for her since she's been a puppy. I am fully aware of what the price of this type of vet visit would cost. Before my dog was even seen I was told the vet appointment would cost $800+. I have never spent more than $200 for a urine sample and antibiotics. I refused and only paid for the necessary care for my dogs UTI. I then was called by the vet who said she couldn't get the urine sample and that I would have to collect

It is gross to call this a vets office. Sent my new kitty in with what appeared to be ringworm, even told them it looks fungal. Did u know the test is a simple UV light test? they had to be so negligent to not even check after I told them it looks fungal. They had me switching foods claiming allergies. We went in twice. So the whole time it could have been treated, it spread. It spread to my other cat, me, my wife. All because of the negligence of this office. I went to the vet in my hometown, needless to say she was shocked. This is like being a veterinarian 101. Save your money, don’t go here

Stay away! Our local friend recommended them but after our terrible experience (and their own as well) we have switched vets. We chose this vet because of how convenient the location was but were up charged on services to a disgusting degree as well as making our pup sick when otherwise ok.
We came for a general wellness checkup with our pup so that the vets had his records and knew who the dog was. We walked out with a general wellness that instead of $85 turned into $450. The price here raised an eyebrow for sure but didn't turn us away yet. The pup was prescribed a plethora of medications

They will take you for all your worth and then some... Oh yea, and only harm your pet while doing so! I've been coming here for the past year out of convenience... I never walked out of there with a bill smaller than $400 because I was always talked into 3 or 5 extra treatments that were "necessary". As a first time dog mom I was easily persuaded and thought I was doing the best thing for my pup. WRONG. stay away. FAR FAR AWAY.

They seem to be more concerned with making money and charging fees than the well being of my puppy. They have given us prescriptions and vaccines that none of my other dogs have ever needed, and tell us we need to come in every 6 months for shots?? My puppy had a bad reaction to the vaccines so we took him in to get checked out, they charged us a fee to check him out, did nothing about his bad reaction, and then gave him another vaccine which gave him another bad reaction.. feels almost abusive to my dog.

I always feel like I'm being ripped off here. They are eager to schedule as many appointments as possible so that they can charge you a $60 "exam" fee each time you take the dog in, and suggest booster and additional vaccines which internet research says aren't completely necessary. Most of these could be knocked out in a single visit, and I don't know that an "exam" every time is even necessary for a healthy dog. They also consistently add additional services and other charges which I don't request, so it's tiring having to ask them to take them off

Let me provide a brief synopsis of the hell I endured for 1 month as a result of HVAC's malpractice:
I took my dog here for his first visit a few months ago. The doctor at Hoboken Vets Animal Clinic was informed that my dog was bitten by a tick and needed bloodwork. She performed the bloodwork test. She also told me that my dog should receive a flu shot during that same visit. I'd never heard of a dog flu shot but she really encouraged it

I went there first time in July 2020. Before my appointment date I ended up having an emergency. They saw my cat same day and did all the exams needed very promptly, the service was excellent and no long waits.… The doctor took her time to explain everything and the following day, on a follow up call, Dr. Spencer answered all my long list of questions. She worked along with me for a long term health care for my cat’s critical bronquites and pneumonia.
The team there also is so efficient, they have a text messaging service also that gives you immediate help with all you need, amazing

We visited Hoboken Vets with our pup based on the recommendation of Hoboken Girl. We LOVED it!
Our pup just needed a vaccine, but the service and care we received was so much more. Office staff was friendly, kind, informative, and I felt like they truly cared about us and our pup.
All information that was discussed during the appointment was shared via email, as well as test results which was SO convenient. Lastly, I got home yesterday to an adorable thank you card from them! We will be going to Hoboken Vets regularly now :)
