A young man in his 20's, George T. Davis returned from the Civil War and entered the undertaking business his father, Clark Davis had purchased in Upper New Rochelle. In 1871, George T. Davis moved his business from the outskirts of New Rochelle to the village proper and for the next nine years, the business was run from the Town Hall.
In New York State, Death Certificates can be obtained from the municipality that the death occurred in. Who can obtain a Death Certificate? New York State Law says "Only the spouse, parent or child of the deceased" can obtain a certified Death certificate or you must establish a "lawful right or claim" such as an Insurance policy, will, bank book, etc.
