Want to hear from us if we have a mid-year opening and when we've scheduled our annual open house? Please sign up below. Tillamook is a mixed-age, play-based preschool focused on supporting children and their families. Children take risks, work through conflict, develop self-reliance, and build resilience in a safe space.
Together we learn, honor each family, and enrich the community with our time, talent, and skills. For Tillamook parents, it's not uncommon to hear Teacher Anette listed as one of your child's best friends. Her engaging educational style and ability to relate to people of all ages make her a favorite of kids and parents alike.

Services
The idea for Tillamook Preschool came about in 1973 when a few neighbors gathered together and began discussing what they wanted in a preschool for their children. After many meetings and discussions, one thing became clear: they wanted to build a community of parents dedicated to hands-on involvement with their child's education.
As an early childhood educator, Anette is committed to providing a place where preschoolers can explore, discover and learn through play. One of her goals is to provide children with the widest variety of experiences possible. She sees the preschool years as a time for children to discover who they are, learn about the world outside their own family, and become excited about school and learning.
Being a member of a co-op preschool is a wonderful experience for children and families. Children benefit by learning from and building relationships with many caring adults. Parents benefit by being involved with their child's learning and development and by getting a special perspective on their child's first school experience.
Our daily program varies and no two days will ever be exactly alike. Our schedule is flexible; however, we typically maintain the same order of events to allow children the security of knowing what to expect next. As a community, we begin and end each day in song, greeting each child by name and discussing topics important to the group.
Perhaps the best part about being in a co-op preschool is becoming part of a community of people that cares about the well-being of each other's children. The co-op experience is unique and being a member of a co-op school comes with some responsibilities. Parent-Helping Shifts: Family members assist the teacher in the classroom 1-2 times/month for 2-day class and 2-3 times/month for 3-day class.

Our family loves Tillamook Preschool! This school offers a play-based, mixed-age preschool program that focuses on creating a warm and nurturing community. The space is wonderful and features a great outdoor play area (kids can choose to spend quite a bit of time outside) and a large gym for rainy day play. Teacher Anette is a longtime fixture at the school and her enthusiasm and expertise creates an environment that is low-drama, welcoming, and fun. This co-op is also extremely well run and there is a great mentoring program for new families. Although you are expected to contribute your time to

Our family has been a part of this community for less than a year and it's been wonderful for us.
Co-ops take time and dedication to run. That time and dedication is evident in each family's commitment to the continuation of the school. This, of course, requires the same from every family. So it may not be for everyone. But those for those who enjoy communal involvement, this is a great way to execute.
Two of the main principles that attracted us was the play based learning environment and the cooperative conflict resolution system.

This is exactly the kind of nurturing, playful and engaging environment I wanted for my little one. Teacher Anette (who is fantastic!) designs activities that encourage my daughter's creativity and asks questions that stimulate her curiosity. Part of being in a co-op is volunteering in the classroom, and I love that I get to see first hand what she is experiencing during her school day. At first, I was anxious about volunteering in the classroom because I have a one-year-old and no one to watch him. Luckily, there are other parents with younger kids at the co-op and we do childcare swaps to cover

We have been fortunate enough to have both of our kids go to Tillamook over the course of the last three years. Teacher Anette is amazing with each child and manages to always nurture and support each child in the way that best suits them. While our children have learned so much through this special community we have learned even more.
