Our original founder, James Frederick Seagle, began his career in 1842 as an apprentice and worked the earlier part of his life for other local companies. James Frederick originated our business in 1880 as cabinet makers and undertakers serving families of Southwest Virginia with care and compassion.
At Seagle Funeral Home, we take great pride in caring for our families, and will work tirelessly to provide you with a beautiful, lasting tribute to your loved one. Throughout The United States the "American Traditional Funeral" was established as a customary element of the "American Traditional Family". Historically, the "American Traditional Funeral" primarily consisted of the deceased being properly embalmed, cosmetized, dressed and placed in a casket.

This enabled the family to come to closure by viewing the deceased while preparations were being scheduled for a church, home, funeral home, or graveside service.Prior to the 1950's most "wakes" were held in the family home. Today, even with the newness of cremation, we still see much of the same details that were widely utilized by our ancestral families.
