We're a group of families who have come together to be there as our children grow & learn. With one professional teacher (the incomparable Teacher Amy), the rest of the co-op is run by the parents. We all work together to raise great kids, build strong families and be part of a fantastic community.
There's really nothing quite like it, and we welcome anyone and everyone with preschool age kids (3-6 year-olds) to come visit and see what co-op is all about. Mt Tabor Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

Services
Tabor Preschool was created in 1951. Originally named the Mt. Tabor Mother's Club, it began as a small effort by a group of neighbors to give their children something to do away from home a couple of times per week. At first, the mothers taught the children in a room at Glencoe Elementary School, but after a few years, the school began hiring teachers and moved to its current location in the basement of Mt.
As parents and educators, we trust children to know what they need and are ready for developmentally. Children are first-hand learners-they learn by doing, and use their senses to explore their world. We strive to provide children with a wide variety of opportunities and experiences to support and enhance the natural interests and curiosities that grow from within them.
As a teacher of young children, I strive to provide developmentally appropriate programs in a warm, supportive, and respectful environment. I base my philosophy upon the concept that children construct knowledge through their interactions with both the physical and social world. Develop higher moral reasoning and the ability to understand natural consequences through the construction of an internalized code of ethics and principles.
Early childhood education practice and research have found that a child's emotional, social, and cognitive development are interdependent. Our program encourages positive peer and social relations, development of critical thinking skills, and facilitates the development of self-esteem by fostering independence and problem-solving skills by providing children with opportunities to experiment, explore, question and play.
Tabor Preschool is the best kick off to the school years that I could imagine for my kiddo. Fun and positive, with a strong emphasis on exploration and compassion, this is what learning ought to be all about. Our son had a difficult time transitioning from staying home with mommy to playing in a classroom setting.

My oldest child attended this school for two years and we had such a good experience that we are about to send our second child. His entire time as a student, he was loved and appreciated as an individual by the wonderful teacher, Amy. Since it's a cooperative preschool, we had lots of opportunities to spend time with other families and really built a strong, lasting community during our time there.

Both of our boys went to Mt. Tabor Preschool, and we couldn't have been happier with their (and our) experience. Amy is an exceptional teacher, with philosophies about early learning that fit right with what we wanted for our kids. As a co-op the expectations for parent involvement are high, but that was to us a huge plus as the school felt more like a community of families working together for the benefit of everyone. Highly recommended!

As a working mom I have a lot of 'mom guilt' to try and do it all - work, home, kids activities. By joining Mt Tabor and being a part of a co-op preschool I have been able to partake in my son's early learning and see him in action in the classroom (something that sometimes you don't get at a drop and go day care). I get to parent help in the classroom which lets me help out while he is at school but also lets me see him interact with new friends.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Mt Tabor Preschool. Teacher Amy has been attentive and caring towards our son, the space the preschool
