J. L. Patterson, Sr. started his company in 1946. Originally a coal and oil company, Patterson served a thriving Charlotte area. In 1951 after serving during WWII and graduating from the Citadel, J. L. Patterson, Jr. joined the family company. The 1960s saw major changes in the company as Patterson, Jr. moved the company toward commercial and residential heating and air conditioning sales and installations.
Dodson Patterson went to work for the company part-time in 1970 at the age of 16. He worked after school and on summer breaks through high school and college until he joined the company full time in 1977. Working as a service mechanic, residential installation mechanic and service manager, he eventually established the residential installation department.

I used JL Patterson to totally replace my two furnaces and two AC/condenser units with Lennox systems. They did a great job of educating me on the front end. The installation team was professional and knowledgeable. This whole company is extremely professional and reliable. Both Samantha and Susan were very polite and assistive on the phone. Our technician, Chris was very informative, knew the issue right away, and didn't try to overcharge us. They showed up sooner than expected both times, and were very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend this company for both residential and commercial services.

I have been a customer of Patterson Heating & A/C for 30+ years (and my in-laws before that, too!) and have always found them to be responsive to any HVAC needs I may be having at the time. We also purchased a complete HVAC system about 20 years ago and just recently purchased another compete HVAC system based primarily on their good customer service. A big shout out to their service tech Chris Jarrell, he does an excellent maintenance inspection/checkup every 6-months. He is the best…!

Patterson has a created a business model that simply works. when you add up all the valuable experience this company has out in the field on any giving day; it becomes easier to understand how this company not only maintains it employees , but continues to create generational customer's. What I really like is the fact that they aren't spending tons of revenue on marketing unlike some of the competitors in the same industry. I can't say enough good things about Patterson. They have been doing our heating and air-conditioning maintenance since 2017 and they replace the air conditioner this past June. We had an awful experience with the home warranty company when our furnace went out. I called Paterson today and they fixed everything with very little effort. They told me the company who installed the furnace originally probably shouldn't be working. I would agree with them. Patterson is awesome and I highly recommend them!

The technicians are so well trained. Patterson has taken care of me since 1983.
They make sure that I am never without either air conditioning or heat.
They have had their technician stay with me until complete inspections have been done so I would not have to wait.

After speaking with a technician for after hours service. The Technician gave me an approximate time. And after the time passed. I called him and the on call service. He never returned my call. The on call service had me on hold for 23 minutes before giving me an answer. I got a call the next morning from the office apologizing. What good does that do for my inconvenience. I could have possibly been serviced by another company. I knew a technician named Dan Mack he was the best. That’s the only reason I called here. He’s moved on and good for him.Now I shall move on!

Patterson's is the one to use for all your heating and air needs!! They have always been professional and helpful in everything I've needed. They explain everything up front and let me know in advanced all they will be doing! They have a great yearly maintenance contract that is very affordable and are always just a call away if there is an emergency. They have always come out quickly and been very efficient!! I have been using Patterson Heating and Air for many years now and have always been very satisfied with their service, quality of work and overall professionalism. The technicians have always been very knowledgeable and friendly. I don't feel as though they push me into doing what is not needed at the time of service. Most recently Kris Haithcock was our service technician and was extremely helpful in solving a problem we had been having with some upstairs rooms feeling cold in the Winter and warm in the Summer. His suggestion has helped solve the issue of the colder rooms, we will see if it solves

I made calls to several different companies to have my AC unit repaired. Patterson was the first available so I went with them. The service person that came out was pleasant. He explained the repairs needed. I did express concerns about fixing the unit because it was so old. Although I had my own concerns about the the repairs, I feel I was being pressured into purchasing a new unit rather than having the old one repaired. After consideration and consultation with a different company I decided to go with the repairs rather than replacement. When I called the next day I was quoted a price $60 lower

Worst customer service experience! I was set up for a diagnostic service call, since the call was so late in the day I called another provider who was able to come to my house sooner. I called to cancel the appointment with Patterson, however, the sent a technician anyway. I told him the appointment was cancelled and he left. A week later a get a bill saying that I "did not call and confirm cancellation". I believe they were upset that they saw a more reputable company's van in my driveway. Of course, no one is answering their phone nor do they have voicemail. Please do yourself

After doing my research, I selected Patterson for it's reputation, experience, and York brand. They offered the best brand available for a gas pack unit. Our old unit needed work and after a couple of quote from others we decided to go with Patterson. So glad we did. Rick, our rep, was very knowledgeable about the product and his crew, Doug & Cesar, did a fantastic job installing it.
